LOL that cracked me up i can picture that song coming on after "safety dance" on an 80's compilation CD god that sounds like 8 minutes of pure gayness

I'll just say the word ahhhhhh

phil collins attempt at sounding different garnered him air time but was it worth it at the risk of sounding so homosexual? phil sounded gay and texxon was there

Haslet in New Orleans should get canned at the end of the year.. too much talent down there to continue to suck like they ahve the last few years.

also I think Butch Davis will get fired as well unless Cleveland goes on some kind of unreal run. there are rumors at U of Florida that they are trying to get Butch he is a great recruiter

Rumor has it the Dolphins will make big pitch for LSU head coach Nick Saban. Before Saban went to LSU he worked several years for Bill Belichick.

Also most likely not coming back is 49ers HC Dennis Erickson.

Don't get me wrong, I did grow up in South Florida. I had to suffer the 17-0 season; my mom still thinks that was the best team ever. Off the top, I remember, Mercury Morris (Jail), Nick Bonicconti (Sp?) (sorry about his son), Paul Warfield, Larry Czonka, Bob Griese (before glasses) and now I need help.

I was a Raider fan, Snake etc.

Sorry Wil, I was typing at the same time....

Erickson, whew...needs to get a cushy job like June Jones and all the other ex-Falcons (Pre-Vick) era Coaches....

I like the LSU coach, I would hate to see him give it up for the dollar bill; I think he is a reruiting year or two away from a National Champ run.

Saban gets big payday for BCS win

Nick Saban has to be a very happy man today. Not only did his team win the BCS National Championship last night, but Saban also cleaned up in the pocketbook.

One of the more under-reported benefits of winning the the BCS championship for Saban is a huge payday from LSU:

In a bit of irony, Saban, who makes $1.6 million per year in salary in addition to other coaching perks, has a stipulation in his contract that calls for him to earn $1 more than the highest-paid college coach in the country if he won a national title. That man is Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, whose salary is close to$2.5 million.
First you beat the guy on the field, then you get to go cash his paycheck...plus $1. Does it get any better than that?!

I don't know why some of the high profile coaches leave college....the NFL Head Coach job is a living hell physically...Spurrier is the prime example....

Its not like a college hoops coach to the NBA life...I think its apples and oranges, not many very succesful college coaches make the switch succesfully...success at one doesn't mean much in the other...

College Football coaches like Saban (huge salary, tremendous conference) why leave?

Recruiting is a brutal year round grind. I think the money is better in the NFL for the average head coach. Not to mention notariety, look at the average NFL coach that does well, he can write his own ticket anywhere. Long term college coaching at the same school may be a better job though. Guys like Fullmer, Paterno, Bowden, and a bunch of others are more popular than their state govenors. They are the exception rather than the rule though.

Journey,

Other than Spurrier, how many coaches have gone NFL out of the NCAA? Or NBA? When you say apples and tangarines you are correct; answer to one owner or an alumni assoc., which is worse. The college town not withstanding.

Maybe Steve S. goes to the Dolphins? I would like to see what he can do....I went to FSU and Spurrier has alot in common with Bobby Bowden, besides winning; he would tell Ricky W. to FO and we're starting over. I like Steve S.....no one can throw a visor like him.

Well Bill Walsh immediately comes to mind....But he wasn't a national champion either...enough have tried it but not many high profile...

Barry Switzer a national champion and a Super Bowl winning coach but by almost every account he was a boob as a head coach at Dallas...He would have never built an NFL team from scratch, he inherited Jimmy Johnson's work, speaking ofJimmy he's probably the most succesful winning on both levels, further back Bud Wilkinson with OU and then the St louis Cardinals...Lou Holtz was head man with the Jets but was unsuccesfull, went back to Notre Dame and had great success...Pete Carroll's doing a great job now... Dennis Erickson, Dennis Green, Howard Schnellenberger, alot have had mixed results...

I was just thinking of the look on Wannstedt's face when the Cardinals scored that late TD, he looked like a beaten man...A damn shame for the whole organization what that bozo Ricky Williams did...
