This remains a red letter day for me in my sports betting history.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I had just started, with ESB, in early 1995 after seeing their ad in the DRF.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Nov 11th stands out though as it was my first BIG winning day and truly could have been for many others, see if you guys remember these particular games anyway.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

1)Northwestern -8 1/2, They win 31-20 over Iowa as Ismaeli returns a fumble like 60 yards to go up 11 in the waning minutes of the game<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">2)Ohio St</st1:address></st1:Street> -17 1/2 vs <st1:State w:st="on">Illinois</st1:State>, Eddie George rushes for 300+ yards as the Buckeyes crush <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Illinois</st1:place></st1:State> 41-3<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

3)<st1:State w:st="on">Nebraska</st1:State> -25 vs <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Kansas</st1:place></st1:State>, Big Red roll that day, ALSO 41-3<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">4)Kansas St</st1:address></st1:Street> -20 1/2 vs <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Iowa St</st1:address></st1:Street>, K-St crushes <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Iowa</st1:place></st1:State> St 49-7<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

And to close that day...<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

5)Florida -20 at South Carolina, remember getting home from my shift at TGI Fridays and seeing Spurrier say "sorry about the score" to the sideline reporter as the game ended, Florida CRUSHED USC 63-7!<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I won a 5 team parley for 500 bux, at 20/1.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Wanted to add MSU that day (but decided against it) at -1 vs <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Indiana</st1:place></st1:State>, they cruised 31-13!<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

Truly a day i will never forget!! Kind of like Nov 5th 1955 in Back to the Future....The planets were aligned right that day for sure.<o:p></o:p>

So you won 10K in one day as a college student? Wow. I bet you almost died of alcohol poisoning that night.

:coffeetim The fact that ESB paid the 10k (I'm assuming you got it) is the biggest win of that post.

Well as i said, i was at work from about 5 till 10:30, had my handy ATS pager watching the scores all night.

I remember getting the payout check, for about 8,000 a few days later from ESB. My girlfriend at the time about passed out LOL

It was something else thats for sure.

Back in those days, they always paid...wasn't till about 2001 or so that i started hearing about them stiffing people. And by then i wasn't with them anymore.

The check cashed though!

No lie ESB paid me with a personal check...I didn't really know any different though...it did cash atleast...

My funniest ESB story...I realized they were giving opposite numbers( from spread and ML) if the line moved too far, they would offer it back on the moneyline...

One night I had my bet in on the spread, later called them back to get the line and noticed they were offering the ML THE OTHER WAY!!

They did this more than a few times, but i was never able to hit it both ways...

Brock, I think I had about $500 spending money each semester of college. What kind of drugs were you dealing to be able to bet $500 on a five-team parlay?

Worked at TGI Fridays here in Champaign...therefore i ALWAYS had cash. One of my roomies said i majored in TGIF LOL

Worked out pretty good too, casue my girlfriend was always busy in her architecture studio, and i would work in the late afternoon/evening.

But that 500 was pretty much my roll too, not like i had much in reserves had i lost. ALSO started to learn about those handy credit cards in those days...

You'd be surprised how many people were playing there back then that got stiffed. I know the guys that did most of the stiffing pretty well. They're still scumbags.

I suppose i should have taken the dogs and lost instead that day?! LOL

:WTF:

I agree with you there Brock...I hate when people make fun of players laying points...so what?

If the bet wins, it wins....

If the dogs won all the time, then we would all be playing them and be millionaires...........

The key to betting isnt just playing dogs, or just playing fav's, its playing the right one at the right time....

Some people would have u believe you would have been better to take the 24 last night with TCU, just because they were the "dog"....:WTF:
