ten applications have been filed for new casino licenses in iowa. that includes three apps. from waterloo in northeast iowa and two from emmetsburg in northwest iowa. other proposals are from fort dodge-north central, hampton-north central, washington county-southeast, worth county-north central and
west des moines. iowa already has 13 staterun casinos and three indian casinos. the commission will decide on the apps. next year. it appears the most aggressive apps. come from washington county, with a resort, golf course,
200 room hotel and 12-hundred seat entertainment center and from isle of capri, with one of the waterloo proposals, that would include two hotels and a water park. i'm moving to florida, just when it appears iowa may be getting it's act together.

haywkeye171... enjoy the sun brother. Get a couple of weeks of Florida under your belt and the last thing you will be thinking of is if and when you'll get to play at one of those casinos. Really nice casinos in the Bahamas with really reasonable flight rates available all over Florida (at least that was the case when I lived in Georgia a while back). Congrats on the move.

What sort of games/limits are allowed in Iowa casinos? Something reasonable or the $5 a hand BJ max they have here in Colorado?

before the legislature expanded gambling, riverboats offered both table games and slots, but so-called "land-based" casinos, such as prairie meadows and bluffs run in council bluffs only had slots. i know prairie meadows is making plans to add table games and i'm sure bluffs run will also. as far as limits go, there may be minimum bets, but no loss limit. and by the way, iowa has a republican majority in both the house and senate, but the state depends fairly heavily on
gambling revenue, and along with the strong gambing pressure, that's why it passed. as far as jim leach goes, i'm sure he's opposed, but he doesn't vote in the state legislature, which is a good thing for us gamblers.:105317756
