Anyone know how to fix what's going on with my PC? It continually reboots and goes to a blue screen where it attempts to clean the hard drive, then repeats, I never get to the desktop! I don't have the original Windows disks either as this was purchased pre-loaded from our IT guy at work.

I am searching at majorgeeks.com, but was hoping for a quicker reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes,

I use current McAfee and Ad-Aware. It sure sounds like a virus though.

What Operating System and version are you using?

You're going to have to (at the very least) re-install windows.

Most likely you're going to need a clean format. Not very difficult but doesn't sound like you have the equipment (software) to do so.

Probably going to have to purchase a windows xp disk and do it yourself. I *HIGHLY* doubt it's a virus.

Might be a corrupt hard drive. It could be looking for the information and finds bad sectors so it reboots over and over.

How did you post if your computer is bad?:breakit:

I have Windows XP Professional.

I'm currently using my laptop.

Your harddrive is toast I'm afraid

The "blue screen of death" is the tell tale sign

You can get software that can help you recover some of your data, but you will have to install a new hd in your comp

Yeah, might be.

It just keeps on trying to reboot and repeats after going to the blue screen.

what exactly does it say with your blue screen error? The example above says BAD_POOL_HEADER at the top left, look at yours, this is the key area of the error. If you can identify the error you can solve the problem.. LET me know.

Thanks Cheater.

It shows that its trying to clean the drive, then it goes back to rebooting and repeats.

I can't do a screen shot as that's a different PC than I'm on.

I think I'm in need of some recovery disks or a new harddrive, oh well.

SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows, your computer may briefly display the blue startup screen and then continuously restart.
CAUSE

It says to reinstall Windows, I dont have the recovery disks to do this. I think I will have to try to get them from the IT guy that configured my harddrive.
