Several books are now offering PDA wagering and I think its a great way to make an educated wager(guess) while at a game.

For instance I was at a Braves game this Summer and I noticed Chipper Jones throwing up after BP and he was still in the line up just before game time; then a scratch last minute.

This guy next to me was "poking away" on his PDA, I asked later and he said he was letting some people in Vegas know about Chipper Jones.....It would have affected alot of peoples wagers.

He had a Sony Clio...I think

Any suggestions?

You just have to have a few sportsbook phone numbers in cell phone and call bets in.

Why would anyone go through trouble of taking 10 minutes to get bet in with some silly PDA. They are pure garbage to browse net period.

Just call and you can make 10 bets to the one you will make with PDA

Good Luck

what is secure nowadays?

I know that... But hey... I'm not getting a bluetooth device (especially phone where someone can easily jack my #) and using it out in public until it's more secure.

EXCELLENT POST AND RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!

MY BUDDY HAS ONE AND HE LET ME USE IT FOR A COUPLE DAYS...........GARBAGE AS JJGOLD SAID.

Half the websites are not even in the same form as what you would find at home.

When I logged on to the RX, didnt even recognize it because it was so disorientated on the PDA.

Not to mention it took 3 miniutes to download the homepage.

A cell phone is 39x better for placing a wager as JJ as suggested.

OK I am now convinced, no PDA for Glaken. I'll just continue to tote (Georgia word, similar to carry around) my laptop around. Thanks for the advice guys.

I use both. I don't use the PDA to make wagers or access the internet though. But a PDA serves it's purpose for those who have a use for it.

I use the Treo 300 and it works ok for some sites. You just have to get used to it. Treo 600 is even better as it can handles just about any site. Why use it? Shopping for numbers works better, don't have to call books just to get a number. Main reason though is have to go online to get Pinnys best price. I also use it extensively in the office and on the road. Without a doubt regular computer is far better, but this is a cost effective way to get email, scores and web bets for someone that travels a lot or isn't at a desk all day.

Thanks WorldRunner and Wild Bill, A few guys I work with have a satellite link to their laptops...the per minute fee is crazy and I think the monthly fee is around $400 a month for unlimited use..The upside is they have Web access anywhere anytime.....Do you know of better deals?

Sprint and TMobile charge about $10 month for full net access on cell phone with no limit on data usage. Both have a card you can plug into a laptop with about $30 month fee for access, but at slow dialup rates. For cost reasons you really have to go my route or pass on it.

I do also know Verizon has here in Vegas and a few other cities wireless broadband, but it is $80 month for mediocre speed. I saw it demonstrated and was not impressed.

Those are realistically your options until WiMax comes into service or the cell networks start doing more stuff like Verizon and bring the price down to around $20-30 month.

Thanks Bill, I think I will just sit and watch and see what happens after the new year. I enjoy your articles BTW and look forward to meeting you in August.
