Having been on this forum for nearly five years, it always amazes me the amount of gamblers from the midwest area............especially from the states of Iowa and Indiana.

The following statement by CasinoFortune.com gives validity to this in the following statement they released recently.

More people are "staying home" in the Midwest than in other parts of the country............ CasinoFortune.com, one of the oldest online casinos, said its highest concentration of players - more than 420,000 - is spread among Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Ohio.

I believe there are two main reasons for this..............

1. Long, cold, harsh winters that keep individuals in their cabins.

2. The rapid expansion of gambling in these states in the forms of riverboat casinos, Indian reservation gaming, and horse tracks that allow slots........has enabled many to experience the joy of gambling firsthand.

And Betonsports.com commercials on the radio. The thought of placing a sports bet never even occurred to me until I heard you could do it over the internet. I never even looked at pointspreads until about 3 years ago.

Not sure about other midwest states, but here in Indiana it is advertised much more. Ten years ago, the only place you could get a line, was Sheridan's line in USA Today. Bookstores didn't carry the books, Closest thing we had to gambling was Daily Racing Form.
As the online books began to take off, and casinos began opening, we slowly got the books, TV and Radio spots, ect. Only gambling show on tv then was Pro Line, the Jim Feist outfit at 6am, no less.
Basketball is king here in Indiana/Kentucky, so naturally people wanna bet on it also. It's also more acceptable. It's no longer considered dirty to bet on games. 10 years ago, admitting you liked betting on games was like saying you liked to molest children. not anymore. It's much more mainstream.

Too bad the people they tend to vote for are completely against gambling. Go figure.
just because people like to gamble doesn't mean that its even close to the most important thing to consider when voting for elected officials.

Well...considering that NONE of the canidates were going to allow for us to gamble legally online... We focus on issues that actually will happen.

1) online gambling isn't gonna be outlawed.
2) If i am taxed to death by liberals, i won't have any money to bet with.

I used to go to Las Vegas 15 times a year- but now travelling is such an inconvenience.

Not to mention I can get all the sports I want offshore.

I even know another guy here in evansville, bets at the same places i do, and he.............oh wait a minute, he already posted in this thread....:howdy:

There is plenty to do in Michigan right now :

- Deer Hunt
- Go to Indian casinos or the riverboats in Indiana
- Go to Indiana to pick up the remaining bottles of 86 proof Jack Daniels and cheap smokes.
