I went down and listened for a bit. It was borderline comedy. There were these two people in the crowd hissing at Orkin the whole hour after disclosing he is a Cal grad, one guy fell asleep in his chair and suddenly woke up when he heard Orkin call out Bengals, but the funniest was this one degenerate. Typical Stardust junkie, maybe showers once a week. He is busily writing the picks down and making notes on the line sheets. Midway through a pick his freebie Stardust pen runs out of ink. He shakes it, licks it, looks at it...then in one swift motion grabs the pen right out of the hand of the guy sitting next to him, who he didn't even know. Classic stuff. The guy next to him gives him a dirty look for the last 20 mintues and this nut is totally oblivious to it. Then when the show is over gets up and scurries away, but leaves the pen on the seat. Never once says thanks or even looks at the guy next to him.

Only in Vegas people, only in Vegas...

Jimmy V: 3-2 w/a BB loser (by the hook)

Cesar: 2-2 w/a BB loss (and i realized i left off 1 play: Packers -3)

this matchup looks like it will be settled on teh ESPN SNF game - if Jimmy wins it - he is pushes at worst.
**********************************************************
Papa Joe: 2-5 w/a BB win (good-bye Papa - you are DONE)

Mike Orkin: 0-0 with all 7 of his picks going sunday and he has a HUGE advantage over Papa Joe

I didn't think much of Papa Joe or Orkin's situation this weekend. You have Papa Joe, a guy that said he played momentum but making all these college picks on rivalry weekend which just smelled like a recipe for disaster. He made it sound worse because he said he went with 7 college picks because "this is the last week of a full board of college games". Orkin said his strengths are because he just finds bad numbers mathematically and tries to exploit them. Some of his reasonings sounded like horse doo doo. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes up not much better than Papa Joe. Just listening to both though my thought was neither guy is who you would want at this stage of the season as neither seemed to be tuned into the rivalry aspects of NCAA at all.

Results after Sunday:

Mike Orkin gets a nice comeback by the Packers to get the push - and the win over Papa Joe

Orkin beats Papa Joe: 2-4-1 vs. 2-5

a shame someone had to win this - something neither one deserved to win.

as for JimmyV/Cesar - MNF will once again determine it

Cesar goes 2-0-1 and Jimmy goes 0-1-1 so right now it stands:

Cesar: 4-2-1
Jimmy B: 3-2-1

it all comes down to MNF. Jimmy MUST get NE -3 as a cover or he loses. a lose or push and Cesar wins.

if NE covers these 2 will tie AGAIN - for the 2nd straight week meaning next week they will go at it a 3rd time.

Funny stuff WildBill. I don't even make eye contact with the Stardust junkies. Smelling them is bad enough.

Only a handicapping contest would have one man with a losing record (losing money) beat another man with losing record (losing money)
