I have been betting games 10-30 seconds before game time looking at where the late money is going. I am up 2 units so far.

I believe late money is smart money

JJ- Quite frankly, I recommend doing just the opposite in the NFL.

You will be a sure winner with proper money management techniques.

jj how do you know that the late action is moving the line or if its the book trying to get a little last minute balanced action before the game goes off????

no there is a big difference as JJ/Coach has teached us in the past

In one case they get a bunch of late actual money (smart money) , they can tell its smart money from who is making the wagers and that forces them to protect themself and raise the money line on the game or the line so the sharps hit a different shop and not them again. And they might lure some buy back as a bonus from some Squares.

In the other case they just move up the line or money line but over raise it, in hopes of getting some buy back from Sharps or value players or anyone. They are just out of balance after a long day of wagering and they hope for some buyback and thow out an attractive number (a slight overlay to those sharp betters) to balance the books. Pinny appears to do this quite a bit.

I tried doing this in Las Vegas at Barbary Coast. The USC/Ariz St game. It was an ABC game slated for 3:30 est. THey had it live and the game wasnt close to starting but I didn't want to wait for the 30 secs before the kickoff so I went up there at 3:29 est and was told that it went off the board because of kickoff. When I showed him that the game was not close to starting on the television he said sorry. The game kicked off at 3:45 est. The manager who was watching all the games with friends said tough luck.

try try it works if you can bet when horses leave gate, every once in a while heavy money goes on hot horses and they win, but it is split second timing and most of the time you will get shut out

Joel I am just a casual player now

in horse racing the $$ are within a mutual pool and this determines the off-odds of the horse...not so in sports gaming...you still get even money payouts just depends upon the vig you put up...i also saw someone in here substantiate that the number in sports gaming comes into play on sides something like 15% of the time...so only the vig would seem to matter in late wagers...

jj:

While I will agree that late money is often times larger money, it is not necessarily placed on the right side. Often times it is, many times it is not. Often times, it is buy back money from large money played early. Many of the larger books provide early test lines to one or two of their heavy weights before posting an opening line to the public. Taking note of the opening line and early money is just as important as watching the late money movement. The wise player can take advantage on either end and often times both. Recommend paying close attention to both. You will find one can profit either way.

Example last night:

Opening Line: Bowling Green -5
Early Money: Toledo +5 to +4
Late Money: Bowling Green -4.5

Note the outcome.
