The more I learn about gamblers getting screwed by various sports books offshore, the more I would welcome some sort of REGULATION...

Our industry is in dire need of it. The gamblers deserve it. The sports books who are honorable have told me they'd welcome it...

In a time where competition online is at its peak, there are more offshore bookmakers out there than ever before changing their own rules in midstream...

I call this practice, CHEATING!!!

Sometimes, gamblers come to this site perplexed and confused. They thought their money was SAFE, but when it comes time to get paid, SOME people get the famous "he's in a meeting" routine.

Personally, I have found it easier to get in touch with my Senator than some of these bookmakers...

One unscrupulous operator told me that they DELIBERATELY tell all of their clerks to "STALL" the gambler when they ask for a payout in the hopes of the player getting impatient and thereby, losing it all back...

Sadly, the same operator told me that I'd be shocked at what percentage of players fall for this trick. When I asked, the number that was shared to me was over FIFTY percent!

With the bookmakers having an abysmal Football season thus far, the likelihood for another Aces Gold/Sports Market fiasco is extremly high. Despite repeated warnings from the knowledgable posters on this site and others, gamblers tend to overlook what has been said right in front of their eyes.

Joe Blow Sports Book is offering a 30 percent bonus for one week only and another scam unfolds.

If ever there was a time to keep a MINIMAL BALANCE offshore, the time has come NOW.

Although we have some leverage with our sponsors, we don't have nearly the clout to assist players who get cheated from a second or third tier operation that isn't on this site.

It is time for our industry to take more drastic measures in order to satisfy all the doubts that many gamblers still have about sending money offshore...

Instead of working on separate islands, the leaders in this industry need to start leading and the ones who want to succeed should follow behind...

Until we begin to regulate ourselves better and gather together to talk about this issue of TRUST, I don't see a bright enough future for the offshore sports betting industry as a whole...

Let's turn ON the light people and watch how the people will follow...

Shrink,

I agree with every point you just made. The question is how and when?

Perhaps we need a players union, similar to a labor union. But the real big fish in the players' pond would have to be involved. Not sure they'd be willing to do that in conjunction with the little guys who don't do this professionally.

A PLAYERS UNION is an EXCELLENT idea that was touched upon by some posters that met before the RX bash this past year...

excellent post SHRINK. I would agree to a regulated industry in a heartbeat. There is just not enough protection for players. No matter how many disputes we settle, I can't help but think of all the players who get shafted which we do not know about. This would allow players to get a more fair shake and it would drive the rogue shops out of business. Very well said in your post.

Good post Ken. Regulated industry would be super but for the time being players really need to stick to the top tier books for the majority of their bankroll. It's a terrible time to be in newer less established books. Almost every day we are seeing cheap shots at the players from some of the less established books, often with certain "watchdog" sites going along with them!!? Unreal. The end of football season is always a time you need to be careful with your post up funds, with all these favorites and public teams covering it may be wise to move that timetable up. I'm sensing an air of desperation out here at many books, be safe rather than sorry.

Now that we have established a NEED for a group of POSTERS that are there for the PLAYERS, I suggest we decide WHO would be WILLING to represent the PLAYERS, WHEN would be a good time to get together and WHERE?

I'll start by suggesting the WHERE as LAS VEGAS....

some good ideas.........

Hopefully something along these lines would help make it even safer for the players offshore....

However, there still is a need to stay with the "better" shops....if enough of us did that, the rogue shops would dry up on their own.....

And i wouldn't trust any Banana Republic or Three Rock Island govenment so corrupt it makes its populace long for Stalin, Lenin & Marx-- nor any European satellite just escaping the toehold of said triumvirate--to provide a proper solution. Neither a Sovereign Indian Nation.

I would feel almost completely safe w/ any US, Australian, Hong Kong, British casino-- the authorities of the latter ones particularly, if anything, would be excessively punitive of any shenanigans... coincidentally all having a common past / link.

Here's the most honest, unbiased list of book I have seen in some time. Free frtom the influence of advertising:

http://216.5.70.237/pp/ratings.htm

Go ahead and pull out of all of the other lower tier books and put your money in the top tier books. I'll be back later for further discussion of this point.

SHrink- I think it would be a sxcellent idea, but I do not see it happening in the near future, do you? Your story about the operator being told to stall reminds me of some of the stories I have heard from Danny B of ESB. His "favorite one" was when someone requested a payout that Dennis A did not want to pay, he would tell the client that he needed a GAMBLERS TAX ID # and when the guy would ask what he was talking about, Danny would simply say "You dont have a ID #, we can not do business with you" and then he would simply close the account and keep the money.

Shrink,

Whick book(s) tell their staff to stall the payout as a matter of policy? Enquiring minds want to know.

I think that info would be much more helpful then tellingg everyone to keep minimal balances across the board.

A lot of scum in this business, let's expose them!!!

Regulation exists for the sportsbook industry.

It's called LAS VEGAS.
