With new members joining the RX on a daily basis, thought it might be of some value to explore reasons why one might consider an offshore book without reduced juice as part of the arsenal of books one may use. Would like to give credit to Hitman26 for posing the question to me.

First let me say, that theorectically if one makes every wager at a shop with reduced vig, the player could save substantially over the long run. Thus having a reduced juice out is crucial to the success of the player. That being said however, there are numerous reasons why a shop that offers no reduction should be part of a players arsenal.

The simplest reason is that there are, in fact, actually times when a straight shop will hold a line for a longer period of time at -110 while the reduced juice shop is moving it's line to -111 and higher. As we all acknowledge, getting the best line is our goal. Thus, there are times that having access to a straight shop will place the player in a better position then the reduced shop. This is certainly not the norm, but it occurs often enough that having it available to the player is as important as having the shop with reduced vig. In essence, the very reasons having multiple outs with a variety of choices is paramount to the success of the player, so that getting the best available price, no matter where it may be, is obtained, as much as possible, at all times.

There are many, many other reasons to consider a straight shop and if you have an opinion, feel free to share your thoughts.

Oldman Ted- Just wanted to say.....You are my idol! Never seen a poster with more insight, ability, and yet remains a humble, ordinary guy. God Bless, and keep up the good work! If you don't mind me asking, how are you? I know you've had some health issues, and I think about you often.

TED is EXACTLY right.

This is why it is crucial to have yourself no LESS than THREE sportsbooks at your disposal, and preferably more.

Thank you TED for sharing!

Illini:

Such kind words. My health is still about the same and will be seeing additional specialists this coming Friday and next Monday. Just the way it is. I thank you for your thoughts, but do not worry for I have come to peace with whatever the future holds for me.

Fish:

Couldn't agree more. Three is a good number to fund with additional accounts available for funding as needed.

Also, some of the straight -110 shops can offer more betting options such as quarter lines, team totals, 3rd & 4th quarter lines at the half, more props, etc..
