I'm having DSL put in next week, I took the wireless package. They are providing me with a wireless modem/router and a wireless pcmcia card for my Dell Latitude CPx laptop. My question may be stupid but where does the pcmcia card plug in? Does it go where the lan/52k modem is now? My desktop will connect directly to the new DSL modem with lan and cable.

Thanks

the card plugs directly into your laptop pcmcia slots. Make sure that your laptop has them. I think that most do.

I now have a Xircom lan/modem installed on my laptop. I think where it plugs in is a pcmcia slot.

Thanks

I am buying a new PC today or tomorrow for a cousin of mine. He is getting dsl from his provider. Does he need a special card for dsl, like an ethernet for cable?

Yes... He needs a network card. The company will provide everything else. The filters, the modem, etc.

Many companies also provide the Network card (which cost all of $10)

Thanks. I wil try and find a network card from the DEll website when I order. Just to be clear, the phone company may supply the network card?

Yes... They may. I would check your local computer shop they probably have them for $10. But if he's buying a computer and he can just have it pre-installed that's the way to go.

But even if the company supplies the card you don't HAVE to use their card. Any card works the same.
