Thanks Fish, great read, it's amazing how many of Poker & Sportsbetting's strongest players are from the bible-belt/south..Doyle, Pearson, Baxter, Walters,etc..

I think Doyle and Dewey's demeanors are greatly aided by their faith, from what I've seen of them on tv, as they like Negreanu(whom seems secular?), have seemingly egoless dispositions(yes, I know all players have some ego), as it definitely helps perspective and prevents tilts.

Horseshoe---Glad you enjoyed it and hope everybody here takes the time to read it.

Like I mentioned, you will be a better gambler, and more importantly, a better person by doing so.

Did he teach that guy who used to yell out "Winner, Winner chicken Dinner!" when Stardust used to have those poker tournaments that spilled over near the sportsbook.

Great story. It reminds of the story SI had about professioal gambler Billy Walters. I remember quote he had that how gambling sort of ruins watching sports. He said he never watches a game for the game only. It's impossible to watch a game without the spread lurking.

Bumping this thread for those that may have missed it, as it is just too good a read to miss. As Fish is so right, it is inspiring on a much greater level.

The man just "gets it" with his macro-vision, as "it" is usually a missing quality for many of the elite one-percentile that gamble for a living, for many being too narrow in their scope. In partial overlapping ground to say a Bob Martin's or BW's story, it seems some struggles have helped find a "perspective" and create a broader man with a greater sense of true peace.

Do yourself a favor, and check out how "the legend of Bigfoot" began.
