Should the NBA go to the "one and one"?

I think that the NBA game would be much better if they adapted the college rule of the one and one free throw system...

These are supposed to be the best players in the world, and they should be able to make a damn FT...

I can remember when the NBA used the 3 to make 2 system, which was a real joke.....a 66% ft shooter, was perfect in that scenario....

But still, to make every foul a 2 shot foul is a joke....make them make the front end like the college players do.....would also make the end of the games a little more exciting, cuz they wouldnt automatically get the second free throw.....

Just curious, think this will ever happen?

Anyone else think its a good idea?

I agree

Also, in the NCAA, would like the dunk made illegal .........as well omitting the shot clock and 3 point line.

as well omitting the shot clock

:WTF:

Remember the days of the "4-corner"?

Teams could run 5 minutes off the clock on one posession if they wanted to....When u look back, makes u wonder how they ever did over/unders back then.........And a coach could easily throw an under in on a game like that, without anyone looking twice....

I realize I am in the HUGE minority with omitting the shot clock.

I LOVED the "4 corners" offense/stall.

I say this having played on top 10 state ranked team in high school and having the other team come out in the first tournament game and run the 4 corner stall on us.

They led us 6-4 at the half and went on to beat us something like 19-15 in one of the most heartbreaking losses of my life either as a player or a spectator.

STILL, I love the stall tactic and the strategy of it........that alot of times backfired.

3 point shot has ruined hoops across the board.
Tell Larry Bird, Danny Ainge, DJ, Byron Scott, and Michael Cooper that. 3 point changed changed the game for the better.

The problem with baseball and basketball is that the average athlete is outgrowing the confines of the sport. It is too easy to dunk, hit a home run, etc.

You want a NBA rule change? Try this - raise the rim - make dunks harder and from 7 footers looking over the rim on their 3's. Drastic - absolutely

If they go to the 1 and 1 expect games to finish ion the 65-55 range.

These guys cant hit ft's.

The Nets and Wizards combined to miss 31 last night!

The problem with the 3 point shot is that you have to many players utililizing it that are not capable of hitting it and they hurt the team by wasting that long bomb when they could take a 12 footer or less every time down the court, scoring at a much higher % than behind the arc. Imagine if these guys would shoot inside the arc more often than not. The scoring would be up and I think the interest in the game would be too. As of now in the NBA you do not need watch but about the last 3 mins to find out who wins.

The game of basketballcompletely changed with the advent of the 3pt shot...Makes me sick seeing college players pulling up on the break and shooting a 3...

I wouldn't mind seeing the NBA game go to a one and one...

Some may not remember but, many years ago now, you use to get 3 to make 2 ! Imagine that now 3 shots to make 2, kinda pathetic , that has something to do with the score being higher...Sometime in the late 70's I'm guessing they took the rule out, crazy rule ..

as a ref - i LOVE teams that pull the "4 corners" crap. you kidding me?

they toss the ball around all the time while the clock just ticks away at a MUCH faster rate then if they played "real" hoops.

the few times i have done kids' games and they played "stall ball" we were done at least 20 minutes earlier than usual and most often 30 or more.

as for this "1 and 1" that would make it interesting

how many here recall when they NBA had "3 to make 2": when Team A had committed 5 fouls in the 1/2 putting Team B in the bonus situation, if Team committed a shooting foul, Team B would get 3 tries to make 2 free throws.

I agree w/ BS(Buck, that is): You want a NBA rule change? Try this - raise the rim - make dunks harder and from 7 footers looking over the rim on their 3's. Drastic - absolutely

And, enlarge the court dimensions-- for hockey too. We're watching too much combo wrestling, boxing & martial arts-- instead of basketball / hockey. Leave the 3pointer alone-- in fact, award 4 points for halfcourt shots. And whatever happened to enforcing traveling & the 3-second rules?

And, badabing, the most rad idea:

Award two extra points for any score achieved in 10 seconds or less possession time(including adding one extra point for each converted foul shot within those 10 seconds). Besides obviously encouraging offense, this will open up the game-- as defenses will likely opt for initial full-court press to use up that time, AND will diminish incessant/intentional fouling.

In combination with BS's proposals, this will also change the prototype nba player to a more athletic & fit player-- discouraging the 350 pound Shaq type.

Fish's rule changes are extreme.

My own choices would be raise the rim to 10'6" and push the 3 point line out another foot in coll and pro. I like the clock.

i dont think the O/U was introduced until the 70's or 80's I think it first made its appearance in a superbowl. all this O/U in every single sporting event you see is still a somewhat relatively new concept.
