  1. Avoid posts that are screaming CAPS in the thread tilte...this person is most likely a tout, trying to be a tout or an attention whore..
  2. Anyone (in my opinion) that does not leave an explanation for their pick (write up) has not done their homework or is just to lazey to take 20 minutes out of their time, either way, they're not serious about what their doing..
  3. Avoid people who BUMP their own threads for no reason..(revert back to attention whore)
  4. Never ride the tail of a capper who you know has been hot for a long time, chances are the roller caoster is gonna head down hill real soon...
  5. Remember, when a capper posts a record it's not always 100% accurate, do your homework on that capper (buyer beware)
  6. I "almost" always avoid the 10* plays 25* plays, I'm a very conservative flat better. Fluctuacting your bets because you "think" it's a very strong play will have you in the poor house real soon...
These are just a few criteria that I use, please add yours....

I look for write-ups they don't have to be long or technical but should have some justification for playing a side. A simple rating system is OK with me for example 1 thru 5 stars with the most plays either 1 or 2 star variety as to not cheapen a 4 or 5 star if it ever comes along. Reputation counts but a verifiable record in the particular sport is more important. Hot cappers get a lot of hits or views so natrually I will look in to see what is drawing all the attention but not necessarily using the play. Sometime I will leave a game alone if I like the other side of a hot capper.

i pay attention to those who post early and either show you a copy of the current point spread or line or who give the source or a couple books to go hunt at. and as the bettor I find I can also get that same number or better. I just find those guys records to be less inflated and they are better hanicappers as they are picking and choosing between real lines to make a play and not a spread deflated by some magical 1 1/2 points that they claim they have. (Thats easy to make a play on).

Kapusta and MAdCapper/Mr Sharp have almost single handedly tripled my Pinny account the past month!!! Thanks guys!!

I like the picks early because if its solid and meets the requirements it should be obvious to the handicapper. In the middle of the evening during a bunch of games for a handicapper to post again a few times to all of a suddon figure out a few more 4 star plays to add to the package has always seemed strange to me. I think "All of a sudden this is a 4 star? why not this morning, the line has not even moved" But to have your 4 star play or top plays the day before or before noon time that seems like the way a solid play should stand out. And those handicappers tend to do well.

Dont agree with this. The teams playing and the linemakers making the plays have no idea if Joe HAndicapper from Timbucktoo has been hot or cold in previous games or not. And Joe is not likly to be changing his handicapping style either.

Think about it there might be another hot handicapper in the world that took the other side. so what does that mean the game will push?

you want hot guys!! hotter the better it means that the probablility of them being a 55%, 58% 60% handicapper is that much higher, that might be why they are winning at 80% in short bursts.

The odds of a 60% handicapper going 16 out of 20 are much higher than a 40% handicapper.

Can someone do the simulation math on that? thanks

I go with hot guys.

Anyone not having a long term documented and verifiable winning record tracked at an unbiased 3rd party reputable site using one unit standard play isn't worth my attention ....

These forums are all alike, a popularity contest where everyone jerks there forum buddys off.

My personal local friend "bubba-sc" posted up a fifty unit gain "one play standard" record in the Baseball forum this last summer and barely got a "well done." From MOST of this forum ....

Can you imagine if that was Fishface or Shrinkage ?

Almost the entire forum would have fell all over themselves just to gobble up gallons of pompous goo ...

Good post and discussion.

All I can say is find a formula that wins you money and run with it, whether you are capping or following a capper.

I agree with everything said except bumping the thread. I am adamant at times because although I have not posted a lot for the period of time I have frequented the site, I have gotten great information from you guys and when it is very strong on my side I will continue to post my information continuously especially when there are not many who handicap CFL football for example. I have jumped on many plays from others and a couple big ones that come to mind are Cal Full in Baseball from Wink and Tulane in Football from the Shrink, WNBA from the General for example.
Since not many handicap CFL I will continually post till gametime showing strength and confidence in the play with additional information. I continually find value in lesser played sports and if I can share that information and benefits others, great! I was documented on the Joey Gaffney Radio and Cable Show out of New York, gave him one play a week in the CFL and finished on a 10-0 run. Now back to reality.

use contest standings and plays , and follow guys who keep a record or you are familiar with.

if there is no record or familiarty then look for a write up and try to use the info best as possible with some other things like what I mentioned above.

also the players that generate a lot of positive buzz are good to follow. if you see 10 'thanks again' in the thread they must doing something right.

guys with low post numbers who just jump out and say 'im on these 5 tonight', and there is no record or reasoning, that does very little to help someone who is looking what to bet. it might build some comradery with coincidental followers but that is about it.

I agree w/ trytrytry re disagreeing w/ #4... you ride the hot horse until / IF he cools down...

the alternatives to that sound unappetizing: riding a choppy record, or worse-- a losing one figgerin' it will soon turn around...

Rob and TTT are correct, BUT...can't we find some tracking software?.....Myself and several others have found two sites that are free....The Rx should test it during NCAA Bowl Season and NFL Playoffs....it would be a great litmus test for next year; if thinking ahead is a good idea?

I guarantee after week four in all sports most of the best would be legit and the rest would stop the annoying POY, BOY, LOCK of Century, yada.

My tip is to stop spending hours reading the rx each day and start looking at some numbers and reading local papers.

best way to find the top handicappers is to do what i mentioned in an earlier thread.

run a year long bankroll contest involving all the sports that makes people post plays like people actually make plays. everybody start with 10 grand and lets see where it goes.

you see some guy up 4 grand after 3 weeks , follow him for awhile. you see another heating up during baseball with a profit of a few bucks after a short time, follow him for awhile.

i get tired of seeing the posts with 15 to 30 plays a day and for thousands of dollars.

lets keep it real..
