You know all day long I am talking with phone clerks who make 2 cents a hour and all of them for the most part are professional and courteous. I know that is what they are paid for but still, they are good people, grinding out a living. A way to show my appreciation is to give them a FROG pizza and beer day. For example, I have been in Jazz for 7 or 8 years now. They have always taken care of me very well. It is a phone account. So I authorize a buckfitty out of my account, and they do the rest. Best time, on a Sunday where most everybody can enjoy. Hey, it is a thankless job, so that is my way of saying thanks, but showing it, as the FROG prefers actions to words. I may do this at a few of my phone accounts. It is a small price to pay for good karma and to show them how I respect their efforts. But anything, a Christmas card, a Swiss Colony gift basket, whatever may be in your budget. I have no agenda here but to spread some Christmas cheer. Please consider it if you have the means. Thank You.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

That's a good idea, Frog. I need something to appease my conscience, too. I always feel guilty when I call them to place bets, not even that big, but I know that they are 5 times the clerks' daily salary. I wonder what they think of us.

Very nice gesture except that many knucklehead managers won't allow the employees to accept anything from customers in fear the player will somehow receive "favors" from the employees.

Illini, it is called empathy. Or putting yourself in someone elses shoes. I do that a lot. It is a bit different with me, as I constantly ask, "How much can I have?" Might be annual salary vs. one position of too many per day. If I was in their shoes I would think, it must be nice to be able to bet that much on one game, more than I make in a year. But would not being able to imagine it, being from that position. I could take those same individuals, bring them up here, and have them earning huge, within a few years. I would love to have one or two, but that is not feasible. Do I feel guilty, hell no. Do I have a conscience, yes. But that is the way of the world. Can I make their holidays just a little brighter, with some beer and pizza? Hey, that FROG, he is a good guy that cares. They already know that because I practice very good phone etiquette. I always speak slowly and clearly, ask politely, and close the call with have a nice day, good evening. My main motivation is not to ease my guilt, but show them some respect. They deserve it in my opinion. For a job well done. Sort of like a Christmas tip. I can some tip some stiff waiter for taking my money eating, I surely can tip a clerk facilitating transactions that I profit from. But if it eases your burden of guilt, cool. As long as they get some recognition.

Thanks Illini...Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

Typical froggy, why not just do the good deed and keep quiet about it.

Sounds like you did it just so you can get people to like you.

Great idea!

Gents,

As the manager of a book, I will ALWAYS allow a client to have money be taken from his account and credited towards a lunch for the employees. In fact, we have had a few clients actually do that...the most recent of which posts here frequently. When it comes to cash gifts, we do not allow that to occur, for internal reasons.

On another note, I would like to encourage all posters (and lurkers) who currently play at Sportbet.com to consider a donation to Manitas de Amor, a local charity that feeds, clothes, and cares for the poorest of the poor children in Costa Rica. For more information on how you, a client, can donate to Manitas de Amor, please give me a ring or wait until Monday and there will be an icon on the home page of both Sportbet.com and IslandCasino.com.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, Manitas de Amor is in jeapordy of shutting down. It appears as though this could be their last Christmas. The people who currently work there are not receiving enough in donations for them to continue to care for so many, as well as themselves. 3 years ago we began a monthly donation and, try as I might, I have been unable to get others to make the same commitment. If any of the folks who do not currently have accounts with Sportbet or Island Casino (WHY NOT??? lol) you can send a donation via Neteller to us and we will credit that towards the fund. Simply put "Manitas" where you would normally put your account number. I would post an internet address for them directly, but it appears as though their site is no longer working (not sure if anyone would be interested in helping them on that end, but they would probably love it).

Should anyone wish to donate, you will receive a certificate and a reciept of your donation (for tax purposes) from the organization. Donations of more than $50 will also receive a VCD of the children receiving their gifts. Please call me for more information at 800-214-9666 or email me at Jake@sportbet.com. Thanks and best of luck!

Very classy move Frog. I believe what Frog is trying to do is simply share with others that what he does is possible. I think such an attitude of is to be encouraged. Many books do allow for tips to reach the hands of their employees, some don't. I think there are people that would do such a thing if they only knew they could.

But, back to the subject at hand... Spread the joy of the season with those around you! Show your workers/helpers how much you appreciate their service, their company. Give your spouses the best gift of all: love without measure.

Happy Holidays!
