Bill....I read your post under the Bowl thread and am looking forward to your article.

I was wondering, with all the coaches hinting towards the much wanted playoff scenario; what are your ideas on the way a playoff should be handled?

Input on this question from all is appreciated.

Just a quick brainstorm idea...could NCAAFB do a Regional Tourny like College baseball? Then a World Series of Football? I know its sounds stupid but something has got to change.

I like the top 4 seeds playing off. This year Texas would play USC and Oaklahoma would play Auburn with the winners playing for the title. They could play the semi finals New Years day with the final played within the next 7 days. They could also rotate bowls - one year Orange gets title game, next year Rose, next Sugar etc.

In other words :

1 seed
4 seed winner advances

2 seed
3 sedd " "

Thanks Wil for the input, I am working on a plan myself....I will post it tomorrow probably. How can we make sure schools like Boise St.,Utah, Pitt, Cal get a fair shot at being number 1. Could there be a consolation bracket?

I say six teams with a bye for the top two. That would produce just five games so it could work with the bowls if that is really desired. I am more upset at the BCS taking over all these bowls than I am with the controversy over the big game. The BCS should do nothing more than make a championship game possible. All these other bowls should be free to choose who they want.

Something I don't mention is my suggestion for Cal fans. They open next year with Sacramento St. The good ole Hornets will be lucky to score in that one. Cal fans should organize a protest; they do that damn well in Berkeley don't they??? Since the game is totally irrelevant and Cal could win it playing in a Sac State fraternity house the fans should show their disproval of the BCS by boycotting the game. The goal should be to play in front of an empty stadium or as close as they can to it. A fund could be set up and the fans could donate the $25 they would have paid for a ticket and have the money given to the school so they don't lose in the end. Those with season tickets should be the ones most willing to eat their tickets and not show up.

Will it change anything? Probably not, but if fans just keep saying "oh well, can't do anything about it" then we will all get screwed. I am sure if the fans show the solidarity on that game and the nation sees a game played with say 500 people in the crowd will cheer on the Bear Backers and sympathize because unless you are a UT fan this is an utter joke that this team got screwed out of the Rose Bowl.

Bill,

Good idea on the playoff; I thought I may have wanted more teams involved but I'm re-thinking my opinion after your post. As far as the boycott on the Cal v. Hornets game, it may happen; the "fireronzook.com" boys need a new project anyway. Maybe one of the reasons Cal is not getting a Rose is the simple fact that they schedule teams like Sacremento State. I wonder how the BCS would look if they still included Strength of Schedule?

Wilhelm, I know your probably still in the rack...I haven't forgotten to e-mail you. I am in the midst of a "customer service conundrum" with AOL. I haven't used AOL IM in over a year and can't remember my password. If I could remember my security question and PW hint I wouldn't have called them in the first place. LOL
