Like the new colored format for viewing lines, but when I click on a team to place my wager (I do chase steam), I quickly enter in my bet amount, put in my password and await for confirmation ....

and wait ...

and wait ...

and wait ...

It takes over 30 seconds for the confirmation screen to return and by then the line has changed, even though I have selected the team I want to wager on, entered in the dollar amount and even entered in my password ...

Anybody else experiencing this? It NEVER used to be like this. This started about 4 to 5 days ago.

Just slow software. They are a wiseguy shop and they do know when something of interest is on the move. JMO.

Just made a wager on the Atlanta Hawks game....the wager was processed in less than 5 seconds.

If one likes to bet favorites, I would highly recommend HOLLYWOOD.

I admit, I usually give them nothing but steam, although I do make a few occasional square plays, but I when I say it is taking at least 30 seconds to process my wager, I am being kind.

Since they are listed on the DBS screen, they have to know what kind of action they are going to get. If they don't want the bet, they need to move quicker on their numbers, as they are one of the last books to move line on the screen (possibly because they don't move on air).

But regardless, this is very aggravating.

Tried again on the Charlotte OV 193 total, couldn't get it.

Happened on G'Town - 10 - 120, couldn't get it.

And of course the UNDER 146 Virginia total as well ...

Software feature. They can set whatever delay they want.

Try checking how long it takes. I bet it will be the exact same time every time you try to place a wager.

Chalk eater, you are 100% correct, what Hollywood is doing to you is waiting to see which side you like and then they decide if they want to change the line on you or not, its called an approval que and I cant stand when books do this and please nobody come in and tell me I am wrong I have used that software before.

Maybe you should consider calling in your wagers. I am sure they will allow the play immediately that way.

Another good point, General. The number listed on their website I have called before, but is there a direct number to their lines department?

I am often put on hold after giving my account number and password, and then I have to repeat the information again to the "lines" person.

Any help?

Chaulk why not call Hollywood and ask for a direct line into their call center with no transfers. Explain your problem exactly as you have here. You are afterall only looking to get a fair shot at the number listed on Don Best for any particular game. You should have the same opportunity for that number as any other player. The competition for steam is hot and heavy everywhere. I do understand your frustration when you see the number on line only to have it rejected 30 seconds later. Communicate with Hollywood (or any other book) and maybe you can improve your chances to get a number once in a while.

Sounds exactly like the bs Millennium will pull on you. After I had mit internet access blocked, I had to call in every wager, and if I was put on hold for less than 1 minute I was impressed.

Chips is 100% correct! This is meant to "slow down" anyone that has a pulse. I am waiting to talk to one of the main guys there for an explaination as to why a Don Best book needs to use this tactic.

I'm not sure what's going on or if they are really stalling and doing this approval que thing. There is one thing to note, however, as I've done my share of steam chasing...

if you leave the lines up for a while and don't refresh, you might be clicking on a line that was there 10 minutes ago. It may have already changed but you haven't been refreshing so you don't know until you get to the confirmation stage. Just something to consider.

It has nothing to do with you refreshing the lines or not. Hollywood can give you whatever dealy they want when you have entered your initials and pressed confirm. Usually bets are confirmed instantly but when they start using this delay ****, you will either have to wait 15 seconds, 30 seconds or more before getting your confirmation.

During this time they may or may not have changed the line.

Others abusing this bs software feature are Jamaica and Royal (from what I have been told) .
