I was on the phone and had the mute on the tv so I have no clue how to even interpret it...

First down, Vinny fumbles his intentional spike....
Did he give it back to the center who then hiked it again and then Vinny spiked it?

If thats the case, then why is it third down?

And if it wasnt a fumble then why wasnt the clock stopped (cause then he would have succesfully spiked it)

Any help is appreciated. I didnt understand it. :howdy:

It was a fumble on first down. So the clock keeps running because Testaverde recovered it. The refs set the ball for second down and he spiked it, bringing up 3rd down. And then they scored on third down.

ok.....that makes some sense, but, why did the first down end? vinny fumbles it, recovers it and then what, did someone touch him while he was on the ground?

Yes, someone touched him on the ground. But the whole thing was slly. There was no need to spike the ball in the first place. 1st and goal from the 4 yard line with just over 50 seconds was plenty of time. No need to get all frantic and waste a down, let alone two downs. It worked out, but it was awful clock management. They acted like there was 10 seconds on the clock when there was 50. It was bizarre.

ok, i didnt see him being touched, thanks.

yeah it did seem odd that they were going to waste 1st down with so much time on the clock.
