You should always be evaluating your exposure. Do not keep money offshore that you cannot afford to have stolen. Be careful with new books and start considering that it may be the time to secure your funds only in the solid, establshed, well known shops. Don't wait to blame troubles on others, but look out for yourself by securing your funds in top books today.

Good luck

Very solid advice. :103631605

All too often we only think about this sort of thing when it's too late.

Thanks Darryl.

Posters need to be aware that nothing is guaranteed in this business. We should never forget that we have to advise the new posters as they may not know as much as we. I know I have obtained a wealth of info here and still have alot more to learn. Wilheim posted some very basic info in the newbie room last week. Simple to some and new infomation to others.

If I may, just to add to the General's advice, football season is by far the largest handle for the offshore books and following the completion of the Superbowl, withdrawl demands for funds from players is high as many don't follow basketball or baseball. Consider reducing your exposure throughout the month of January prior to the Superbowl. You will sleep better and can always fund once again at a later date.

I think most books are prety safe now, most have taken measures not to go broke and learned from failures of others

General, excellent advice Sir. I'm part of a small group of posters here, who has been very fortunate to never have experienced a slow pay or a no pay. Maybe I've just been very lucky. But what your advising is 100% right on. Was how I approached offshore back in 1998 when I opened up my first account. And now in 2005, after having played at probaly 25 different books since then. The same holds true today. Also players shouldn't be counting on bail outs by the bigger books as a possible safety net. I think that is a thing of the past. Just a gut feeling.

I think bailouts are a lesser possibility too. I hope no players are thinking that is their saviour.

General, one thing that I forgot to mention, that you might also agree with. I've always sorta cringed when reading a post at any of the more popular forums, where the follwing is said/suggested: 'maybe not a book for bigger players, but someone sending ($300-$500) should have nothing to worry about'!!!! Over the years, that line of thinking has just amazed me at times.

If one is sending 3-5 hundred which they will be pissed about having stolen, then it is a big deal.
