Sharp enough in that they are probably the #1 factor the NCAA committee takes into consideration for seedings and to evaluate teams on the bubble for the BIG DANCE.

The ratings serve little purpose for handicapping because they are based on two things: who you played and how you did, win or loss. Nothing of value for someone looking for guidance on how much better in points is one team over another. Further college hoops numbers based on a full-year are worthless. You can construct a far more accurate number using the just last five games of a team, or the last four games home/away, then you could using a full year's data. The game as it plays in the current state with so many underclassmen dominating just changes way too much over the course of a year. The kid who was green and not adjusting well to his college coach could flourish in a 10 day period and become a team's most valuable player.

It also means little because you can only play (and beat) the team that is in front of you. Rather comical to see Wake rated ahead of Illinois despite the fact that they crushed them, and everyone else they've played, all by DD. Anyone who thinks Wake (or anyone else for that matter) shuld be rated ahead of Illinois needs their head examined Obviously, computers have their limitations (or least those who program those computers).

And how does Kansas have a tougher SOS than Illinois when Kansas has yet to play aTop 25 team and Illinois has played 2. Something is awry here.

No kidding. And a win is a win I guess, but 4 of Iowa's wins hae been close, by 7 or fewer. Iowa isn't anywhere near the same class as Illinois. I guess maybe RPI is meant to have more meaning at the end of the year.

PS- Illinois flipped flopped with Iowa after last nights games and now are ahead of the Hawkeyes.

RPI has no value in betting

The only ratings that are accurate are LVSC, lets be honest here

THey match two 2 teams on a neutral court and they will have very accurate line

LVSC should rank teams period
