I think it is the common bond that most of us have here and elsewhere.

Of course it is to be acknowledged, but here I am not as known as another location, but love to share insights and obviously read some.

I personally cannot discuss the games or at the very least any wagering situations at work or home as prevelently as here on a posting forum.

IMO

One of two reasons.

#1) I don't know about you guys...but I don't know 100+s of people who I can have live interactions without about gambling. Maybe a few people I can talk sports and gambling with. On here...there are 3000 other degenerate schmucks...just like me....and just like everyone else.

#2) On here you can be the person you're not in real life. You have more money, more intelligence, more women, and more hair than you do in real life.

Worlder makes a good point

You really cant talk about gambling 24 hours a day in your real life as most do not want to be bothered and or not really accepted with your friends and family

We are all degenerates so we kind of bond in more ways than one.

World Runner.............. I have said 178 times I wear a unit and have said over 459 times I have not had sex in more than 11 years. I tell it like it is Son

some good points but I disagree. on this one..I do not act like someone im not just because im behind a screen in cyperspace and im sure others act just as they would in real life...im sure of that

Sometimes when I talk about gambling at the holidays I realize afterwards I probably shouldn't have...Gamblers 'understand' the feeling associated with a crazy ending to a game, regular people just don't get it..Its best not to even bring it up with non gamblers...

I am addicted to the education we receive. I love to learn about this hobby of mine. No better way than to listen to many other gamblers sharing their insight. I love to post and have a passion for it. It is a way of sharing and gathering info like no other way. We have professions of all types here as well that we can seek info from. So much information isolated on one web site and it can all be learned right from your home. It's so much more than just gambling. There is much info about life in general.

Every reason stated above is valid. Different reasons for different times.
I myself go through periods where I will post quite frequently. You can be sure I'm winning and feeling pretty good about myself at those times.

Then I seem to all but disappear. Right now about the only posts I make are a few contest picks. Why?

I am on tilt as never before. My self-esteem has plummeted. My picks and thoughts are less rational than ever. Money management is nil. I've taken almost every remedy I know of---except to temporarily quit--- to no avail. Only once before in my full-time sports betting career have I come even close to this type of disaster. Three months off did the trick that time. Three months off now seems like it would be an incarceration or house arrest of sorts. Oh the progression!!

I'm changing strategies and plans seemingly by the hour. This afternoon's plan is to hang out at Tampa Bay Downs for a few weeks and maybe forego bowls and baskets for awhile. Your lock bet of the day is that I'll have a new plan by tommorrow. Maybe I'll just post picks to be faded.

I'm tormented as each day seems more ominous and forboding than the day before. I expect to lose therefore I do...man, like thousands in college hoops while amazingly still sporting a .548 % though plummeting. Could be a little chase in there somewhere, eh? Like a ballclub on a 13 game losing streak, I find a different way to lose money, if not the majority of games, each night. Yet like Dickie Betts [no pun intended] I see Blue Skies again someday soon. It always has managed to turn around before and we all know it will again.

So there. That is why I post. Where or to whom in the hell could I write or say something like this and expect them to understand [with the exception of the wonderful Mrs. Jones]. Where would I find someone to have gone through it at some point themselves let alone to possibly offer advice or a kind word rather than a kick in the ass...even though one is warranted. When it turns around, as it will, you can also bet I'll let you all know. We are all brothers through both joy and sorrow. And we are not quitters. That's the way I prefer to see it anyway. Perhaps we are a family of lost souls but we are a family nontheless. Peace, prosperity and Happy Holidays to all.

It's all about the ablity to share a common passion which most people don't have on the level we do. Are there some compulsives here, yes but I'd venture to say there are less than you think. There's a certain amount of discipline that most posters have here, which is what you have to have even to have a shot at eeking out a profit at the end of the year.
