Would allowing online gambling in America be good for all involved?

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

IMO,

<o:p></o:p>

If America allowed online gambling and companies to operate inside America I think it would make all involved happy.

<o:p></o:p>

For example the major casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Indian Casinos could all operate online.

<o:p></o:p>

What would this mean to America?

<o:p></o:p>

Tax money, instead of Billions and Billions of dollars going offshore it would stay in America and Uncle Sam would get his 33% “or whatever it is” in taxes. Fund Bush’s war, Pay Iraqis $2,500 for having their house destroyed in Fallujah and paying the $250,000 life insurance to family members because a loved one died in Iraq, ok let me be a little more serious….. We know it will help the American budget for whatever they spend the money on.

<o:p></o:p>

How will it help the gambler?

<o:p></o:p>

Regulated casino games just like in real casinos. The worry one has about if the online slots or card games are rigged should go away.

If you will get your money or not or if you have a problem, file a complaint with the agency that would over see online casinos. Makes the industry safer for those who gamble.

<o:p></o:p>

A % of the taxes could fund programs for those who have gambling problems.

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

I agree with just about everything you've said MaddEnemy, except about about the online casinos. You stated that if Vegas were to have legalized online casinos, then the worry about them being rigged, controlled by different settings/difficulty levels, would go away. I don't think that would be the case because they would more than likely pick up right from there, using similar software. The $$ signs would go off in their heads also. Very simple, if you you had the capability and means to put your own online casino on the internet, and had the ability to control it however you wanted, and people played it no matter what, wouldn't you?

Well if it was regulated there should be software to check on the program from time to time, hell everyday to make sure it is AS FAIR as Slots and card/table games. I know table and card games are luck for the most part but what I am getting at is some programers set the games up to take your money and not really having the "Luck" part of the game. Sure the odds are on the casino but at least the programs will be checked for fraud.

We all hear how some casino program got busted for being unfair and how the programer was told to set it up so it takes your money instead of being random.

That is all I am getting at there.

My concern would be that there would be more parties (regulators, IRS etc.) who want their cut, and while it's true the pie would be somewhat bigger, would it be enough bigger to pay those cuts and still leave more for the rest of us!!??

I kind of like the way online gambling is now and so I'll stick to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" theory.

The 33% in tax revs could only apply to casinos, not sports. Just not enough profit there to handle that tax level. That I precisely the problem I keep pointing out for us here. The casinos, the tax hungry govt, even the majority of customers would be happy with just casinos. The horse people could muddle along with this. Every big constituency will gladly sacrifice sports betting in the end. I keep making this point and everyone ignores it. Not having the right to bet sports might drive us nuts, but trust me 90% of the population couldn't care less. Be extremely careful what you wish for here because if legalization came, without sports, we would be screwed because then the govt sends out the dogs to stop the leaks in their scheme, the offshores still booking sports.
