Is anyone able to do a screen scrape off Don Best? I have a bet the answer is NO. And I have no clue why anyone would want to anyway... Thanks

Yeah... just the lines... say you want to automate your own lines and base it on some sort of blend of, say... 5 lines sets found on Don Best... can they be pulled off their screen? I know it can be done for some books (as I know guys are doing it...) and I know other books are making it harder to have it done off their lines (I guess cause they are tired of the robots...) but I was wondering about Don Best... Thanks.

Good question...I imagine it's possible. I have a stand-alone that I use that gives me lines only for most of the major books. Most books do not require a login to get to their lines so it's fairly easy to pull the data.

DB is great but I can never justify the price when I have a program that gives me lines only for free. Anyone can do it...just find a programmer and throw him $50-$100

Hey bro... thanks... better to go direct... in fact, I had no clue why these guys wanted to scrape DB when they could just go direct to the sites they desire.

I wasn't aware that there were individuals interested in scraping DB.... There are? Seems odd and it's definately stealing too. I mean if someone was doing it for their own purposes it wouldn't make sense since you have to have DB to scrape the data from it... Why not just use their program itself.

I'm sure it's probably possible for someone to make a modification that would allow one user to pull all data from DB and report that to the program of several other individuals (all splitting the cost of $500/month) but the cost and effort involved in doing that would be a chore in itself.

Just doesn't make any sense to me at all why anyone would want to do that.

Here's exactly what was wanted... they want to pick 5 lines on Don Best (meaning they have an account and fully pay for it...) They then want the lines of these 5 accounts loaded into their program which weights each line based on their preferences and then spits out a "concensus/weighted" line which they will import into their sportsbook program (which is their back end for lines they present to their customers...) So they are not doing anything that any other Paying Customer of Don Best does other than to have it automated... meaning sportsbooks all over use Don Best Lines as a foundation for their own lines... instead of having a human looking at Don Best, figuring to himself what line he wants to offer (or what line move he wants to make), then inserting what he decides into his line screen of his sportsbook program upon which his customers can bet... he has a software tool he has created to do so. It is not the way I would bookmake nor recommend bookmaking as (in my opinion) as soon as the sharps figure out what he's doing, they hit him on the weak lines and then pound him on the setups... still... it was a consideration of a 3rd party who asked me if it was even possible and I did not think it would be so easy. What do I know? Nada... so I asked the Rx guys as who better to ask?
