General:

As to your inquiry on the kickers for each team.

Georgia Tech's placekicker is Travis Bell, a walk-on redshirt freshman who was a Groza semifinalist. He hit 15 of 16 field goals with a long of 47 yards and was 24 of 24 on PAT. Punter Ben Arndt averaged 38.6 yards per punt with a net of 36.0 yards with 20 inside the 20.

Syracuse's placekicker Collin Barber struggled hitting only 14 of 22 field goals with a long of 46 yards and hitting only 4 of 10 from beyond 40 yards. Punter Brendan Carney averaged 43.1 yards per punt with a net of 36.9 yards and had 3 punts blocked.

Best of luck tonight.

in the Cascade contest, more players on Ga TEch, than Syracuse, but there are plenty on both sides....

so a good portion of the field is gonna start off with a loss tonight....

No one sided game here...

With Syracuse myself, more balanced offense, playing better at end of year...

Both Syracuse and Georgia Tech have had similar seasons. They have both had their share of big losses and big wins. Both coaches also have heard rumblings this year from their respective programs. I think both coaches want to win this game pretty bad. Syracuse HC Pasqualoni has lead his team to eight bowl games and they have won six. Both of these teams have played two common opponents this year as well, in Uconn and UVA. Virginia smoked both Tech and the Cuse, but they in turn put a beating on Uconn.

I like the power run game of the Cuse. They have multiple backs and they should be healthy. Reyes is a great RB and I think he should be able to get some yards tonight. I do have to give props to the GT Defense, they have played well this year and held MD to 76 yards rushing. I still think the Cuse will gain some rushing yards.

I think teams in years past that come into Bowl games playing good and winning have fared better than teams that have not been so hot in the end. The Cuse are 8-3 ATS and they have won their last 3 of 4 games S/U and ATS. I also think their last win of the year at BC gave them some more confidence. Even if Peterson didn't play for BC, the Cuse were 11 point dogs and stomped the Eagles. GT comes into this game on a 2 game losing streak, 1-1 ATS. The two opponents were UVA and Georgia, but I think it gives a team a little extra confidence when coming in on a winning streak.

I think this game could be a 3pt win by either team. If the Cuse can gain some yards on the ground and keep Reggie Ball off of the field I think they win SU. I'll take the points in what I see as a close game.

Also, there are two GT starters that will not start because they didn't get to Orlando on Sunday; Gailey won't release the names but I assume they are starters since he mentioned the word start.

Last meeting was 2001 Kickoff Classic.....Ga. Tech 13 - Cuse 7.

One last caveat, in the Atlanta Journal write-up of the game, Gailey was quoted as saying that he had no idea who will be QB next year, " that job is up for grabs in the Spring." That has got to make Reggie Ball feel good, not! We'll have to see how he responds.

Just a few thoughts on this game from me. Over the years Syracuse has been horrendous on grass. This game will be played at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando Fl. on a grass surface. Some teams are designed for turf and Syracuse fits that mold. Georgia Tech on the other hand has a very exciting QB in Reggie Ball. The problem with Ball is that he has a tendency to take alot of chances, he lives on the edge and makes alot of bad decisions during the course of a game. Dont be surprised if this gets the Yellowjackets in trouble in tonights game. I feel like the Orange will take advantage of the oppourtunities. My play for tonight is -SYRACUSE + 5.5

Good Luck

I agree Mighty, Ball will make at least one TO and 2 stupid mistakes. I like the over, too. My old college roommate lives in Orlando and he says the weather is awsome, expected to be in the 60's for kickoff.
