Fellas, I've been away for a little while. I used to post here as "Kevy". I took some time off from cappin and the forums to focus on my aspiring stand-up comedy career. And also to work on a video project that I want to submit to some different indy video slam/ film festival events in 2005. I've had problems trying to log in with my old user name and password. So thus I just created another user name "The Kevy". I've been thinking of writing a couple of articles to submit or maybe just post in the forum. The first one is on gambling reading material. One of the most common questions that comes up from time to time, is about books on the subject of sports betting. I have pretty much purchased and read just about everything that has been released thru GBC since 1999. My reviews/suggestions will be on the more current titles released from the mid-90's thru present/Winter 2004. Also I will include some thoughts on the various Annuals/Workbooks that get asked about. I'm going to be reading four fairly new realeases over the next two weeks before I write the article. Wayne Root's "Zen Of Gambling", Larry Seidel's "Investing In College Basketball", Michael Murray's "Betting Baseball", and Kevin O'Neils latest title. Just started on the Root book last night. Alot of posters have varying opinions on sports betting books. My article will just focus on what I've found to be great reads over the last few years. The other article I plan to work on is about Teasers. A common question that gets asked is "where the best place to play teasers is?" I have a few suggestions of some places that are must have teaser outs. A straight wager player usually will and should have multiple outs. Teasers players should too. I will give my opinions on a few. Hopefully I can get one or both of these articles finished in the next couple of weeks.

Look forward to reading them Kevy. The General can get you set up with your old user name....RX changed servers in September and we all had to re-up.

Best of luck sir. Writing articles isn't anywhere as easy as it would seem, but everyone can learn from doing it even if they aren't out to be published. You would be amazed at how clearly putting something down on paper makes your mind on any particular subject.

Great point Bill.....its amazing when you come back to what you have written a few days later, sometimes it changes a theme; there goes another day or two depending on the article time frame.

What are you working on next, generally?

Kevy, write your articles and send them to Charlie Maxwell or The General; there is no such thing as too much "correct" information. Double check your facts and numbers; it may just be worth it.

I have something I wanted to send to Charlie today, but wanted to wait for a couple of fact checks first that haven't come through yet on some of the international regulated jurisdictions. Generally I try to have 3 or 4 irons in the fire and come out with whatever I feel most comfortable with. For the most part I like to stick with articles that aren't just blantant opinions. You will rarely hear me come out and say "this team sucks" or "this team will cover". I prefer subjects that require a little more thought, but once in awhile I will voice an opinion of reason. If there is one thing few can argue with, it is that when people are risking their money on something they tend to get carried away with an opinion a lot easier than if there is no financial involvement.

Writing a few articles every now and then isn't too tough, but on a regular schedule like I am can be tough at times constantly getting out one's best ideas. That is why I am always open to suggestions for topics.

Wild Bill, thanks. Really looking forward to writing about both of the above subjects. The subject of gambling reading material comes up all the time here and at other sites. I've pretty much bought and read them all. Looking forward to sharing what I feel are some of the more worthwhile books. Also looking forward to sharing what I've seen out there in regards to Teasers. Every shop claims in the brochures and in the various media to be number one when it comes to Teasers/Exotics. But I think I can help shed some light on who are some of the true must have outs for Teaser players.

Just an FYI for you because those sound like two long articles. We generally try to stay around 650-700 words on our articles, so keep that in mind. Hard to cover the best books or teaser shops in such a short space, but will look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Bill, just for fun...What was your first article ever and here at RX?

Kevy, I went to Catholic Schools mostly before FSU, that said; Sister Paul taught me the use of the semicolon. Its the pregnant pause in the midst of a sentence, but you can't say that to a Nun.

Just Having Fun, G

P.S. You shouldn't keep WB up so late.

Those were separate parts of an article divided into separate daily post on the main page...i.e. Part 1 on day 1 etc. Am I wrong?

Glaken, thanks my friend. Really looking forward to sharing info. Even if they don't end up on the front page and are only in the Forum. I think people will find the articles/posts very useful. The subject of the gambling reading material will be more of an opinion piece. I have no plans to trash any authors or anything of that nature. It will be a short list of what I feel are in my opinion some great books to consider for those who are looking to place an order at GBC, Amazon, Barnes&Noble, Etc. Also I will offer an opinion on the various Annual/Workbooks that come out. The subject of Teasers shops will be very helpful to alot of the newer forum members. Gentleman like the Shrink, Krackman, Fishhead, and numerous others have shared info that has helped me and others out over the years. Hopefully I can now share some info and opinions that might help someone else out too.

Kevy,

Don't ever let anyone discourage you. If Abraham Lincoln would have been discouraged and disuaded from his intent, we would all live in a different America; if Jack Kennedy would have second guessed his "To The Moon" speech we would never have heard the words "one small step." We all make small steps; make yours.
