I'm guessing that in the past they had a problem with people PMing members advertisements. I remember PM were taken away @ MW for the same reason temporarily.
I think there should be a PM feature because we can't post our email in the signatures.
PM option really opens the lines of communication for those of us who want to communicate with others who do what we do. Things I'd like to share with certain people but not necessarily the whole world. Can't do that here.

The Rx is a very popular gaming board as we all know, but we are not here to assist others solicit our patrons. It's just doesn't seem to be good business logic. Shills and touts would exploit a PM system and try to grab traffic from our forum as they do now, but we can see it. Posters were using signatures to advertise and they were using them to put up insults about others. Keep in mind the board is still being learned by us and as time goes we are seeking improvements. So many wanna be touts make it a pain for many of us. As well, it has been seen that PM's take away from forum participation. Thanks for the question and it will be considered.

What you should do is...
You have to have a certain amount of posts to send a PM in the first place... So up it to 200. That does two things
1) Gives lurkers more of a reason to post thus giving RX more ad revenue. (How's that for good business logic)
2) Prevents people who have been banned from the site (Once they are banned they would have to create a new name and then post 200 times before they could pm someone)
Alternatively.... Those who do not wish to assume the risk of having potential touts or shills send them spam PM can simply turn off the PM features COMPLETELY or ignore those who send garbage to them (Since you have a 200 post minimum...it won't happen that often as you can simply ban offenders)
Having a message board and not allowing intersite PM is a crime.
I think that avatars are stupid and they don't make any sense on this site at all but yet they are allowed. Fortunately I can turn them off.... The boards come with options because that's what you should give your users.
Other boards have pm's why shouldn't this one? But then this board does a lot of quirky stuff, like banning people left and right for not much of a reason.
This board also won't allow you to post from Netscape/Mozilla, which it used to do. And this board somehow took my 1800+ posts and reduced it to 900 or so when the changeover was made.

You can post with netscape... Go into your options.
Admin(s) Please make a sticky post at the very top notifying everyone how to post with netscape/mozilla. Tons of people don't know that they can simply by setting the option in their user CP.
Thanks Mr. Stats, your board is still shill-central (imho) and users who don't toe the party line get their posts moved, deleted, or they get banned if they persist. This is a markedly different place than it was 3 years ago, else I'd still post regularly. How do you think I got 1800 posts when I've only put up about 50 in the last year?The General said:
