Astros cutting finanancial corners for battle to sign Beltran. Miller was making 3.4M and would want a raise to stay.

the sox have a nice team that will win some games, so if you buy the most expensive tickets in the leauge they will probably win when you go.

but they are not at all serious about winning a title in 05

Wade Milller becomes a free agent

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Starting pitcher Wade Miller, who missed a good portion of the 2004 season with Houston due to a rotator cuff injury, was not tendered a contract for 2005 and has become a free agent.

Midnight (et) Monday was the deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players on their 40-man rosters. Players who were not offered contracts became free agents.

The 28-year-old Miller was a force in Houston's rotation from 2001-03 with a 45-25 mark in that period. The righthander went 7-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 15 starts last season, but didn't pitch after June 25.

Blue the minute I find out will let you know. So now the Red Sox have the Red Cross pitching staff - Shilling, Clement, Wells and Miller looks like they will need a wheel chair to cart em in from the bull pen.

Just for the record:

The Angels staged a baseball blitzkrieg Monday, swooping in with virtually no warning, nabbing free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera with a four-year, $32-million contract and severing ties with one of the franchise's most popular players, overachieving shortstop David Eckstein.
