Is it just me or is Martz playing like he is worried about choking? The Birds are going to have second stringers in all second half and the guy is playing it close to the vest and making some weird strategy calls. What is it with them, they run the ball well, but don't mix in the pass and then they pass the ball ok, but don't mix in the run. Has someone told Martz about balanced offense and something called "play action"? Amazing how one team needs the game at any cost and they are out there looking tight after drive one. Good example of how you can't blindly bet teams in "must-win" situations.

I agree he is making some strange calls.

Then he has this idiotic smile on his face while he is walking to the locker room.

Watch the rams lose this game. LMAO

This dumba** Martz is going to blow it and having nothing to play for next week.

Maybe that's his way at getting back at the Bills for "mishandling his luggage"

Martz is a complete idiot. I can't believe this guy still has a head coaching job. The fake punt was bad enough but then he starts calling timeouts when the Eagles were just trying to run out the first half by taking a knee. That's a good strategy if you have three timeouts because you can then force them to punt. It doesn't do any good if you only have two timeouts as the Rams did. Then he's got that s**t eating grin on his face when he realizes what a jerkoff he made out of himself by calling the timeouts in the first place.

He is one goofy bird. He's letting a 3rd string team hang close by playing conservative.

Just wait till he starts blowing timeouts in the third q. That is his best trick.

I was at the game last night and you could tell after we scored that first touchdown and McNabb and the starting wideouts came out this game was a formality for the Eagles to get out of town with no injuries. It was really heartbreaking to see Tarpeh get hurt at the end of the game but I heard a few things from St. Louis season ticket holders sitting around me (btw St. Louis Rams fans are very cordial and treated us with the utmost respect so I will say to St. Louis you people are very classy):

1. They don't want to make the playoffs so Martz gets fired.
2. They want to make the playoffs and get beaten badly so Martz gets fired.
3. They want Martz fired.
4. They were highly upset about letting our backups, 3rd string and some guys we just pulled off the practice squad make a game of this on their home turf. They're hoping that shows Martz should be fired.

Thankfully the majority of the team made it out of this game healthy. If we would've won this one it would've been nice (I hate going to a game and seeing them lose even if it's on the road) but you couldn't expect a whole lot out of this one. Next week should be more of the same BUT I do expect Westbrook to actually play a little (he did not play at all last night) just to keep him from getting too rusty (a month off for any of our players would be a negative IMO including WestB).

Mike Martz is perhaps the most overrated head coach in the NFL. From the moment he inherited the job vacated by Vermeil, he was being applauded as the offensive guru that created the "Greatest Show On Turf", but the constant decline of the Rams since being on top has been obvious. Watching Martz play calling, blowing all his time-outs before the end of the first quarter because he wasn't ready, or using his challenges like candy and not strategically, showed me all I needed to know. This guy has been money in the bank as a great fade in the right spot.

I have to agree with the majority, Marts is a terrible coach!! I have met him on a few different occasions and he is about as nice a guy as you would want to meet, but he sucks as a nfl head coach!

Sportscenter just reported that Turley threatened Martz' life. I am sure Wil can find a article on it.

Martz opens up on his conflict with Turley

mercurynews.com

The rift hasn't exactly been a well-kept secret, which probably explains why Rams coach Mike Martz decided Tuesday evening to discuss his spat with offensive tackle Kyle Turley.

Turley visited Martz in the coach's Rams Park office on Dec. 13 in a meeting that eventually degenerated into Turley yelling obscenities at Martz. Things got so loud that employees on that side of the second-floor of the complex could hear Turley yelling.

"Kyle came in to see me because he was concerned about the comments I made," Martz told the Post-Dispatch on Tuesday.

What comments? Well, the previous week, when asked by a reporter about Turley's status for the 2004 season, Martz replied icily: "I have no idea where is. I have no idea if he wants to play, or can play. ... I have not seen him."

Turley didn't like those comments, and that led to the boisterous meeting at Rams Park.

"He felt offended," Martz said. "He was agitated and offended by them (at the meeting). I wasn't shouting at him. But he was animated. Players get like that. Kyle's a very emotional guy. He wears his emotions on his sleeves. But by the end of the discussion, it was resolved. It was resolved and we move on."

It may be resolved, but Martz did file a complaint with NFL security that Turley threatened him. Because of that, Turley could be subject to a fine.

The root of the ill will?

Turley was angry because he felt he was rushed into action during training camp after having offseason back surgery. Martz claims the doctors cleared Turley to practice, so he practiced. Turley aggravated the back injury early in camp and ended up on the injured reserve list.

In turn, Martz was upset at Turley because Turley initially didn't return several phone messages from Martz, who was seeking to check on Turley and his status last August.

Despite all that, Martz said he wants Turley on the team next season, back injury permitting.

"I'd like to have him back if he can play," Martz said.

And then Turley responded: "I would like Mike to be back if he can coach".
