if you feel like helping out, here is a reputable organization:

www.worldvision.org

888-511-6514

$25 can purchase a "survival kit" which contains clean water, food and blankets.

I just sent money to CARE. All the money I piss away gambling, what the hell is $20.

They say just as many are going to die in the next few weeks as when the floods hit.

good for you tony. if everyone gave $20 or $25, it would make a huge difference. those people will need clean water, food and medicine very soon or disease will sweep over them. everyone can afford something...i hope you guys will make a donation.

have a great new year everyone.

Good thread Blue.

Most of us throw $25 away on games like water and we all should donate

I saw some more video tonight and it is so tragic, also a lot of the locals do not have much to begin with.

The poor little kids that passed away is so sad and I would think you guys that have children can even relate more to this.

Lets donate

Great stuff Blue. 62,000 and counting deaths, billions in damage, and God knows how many left homeless -- every penny is needed.

It would be great if some sportsbook offer a "tsunami relief" bonus where the bonus went straight to the charities.

I tell you. If you have a conscience, you have to give something. Was on the BBC website just now and some of the stories are unreal. One guy is in a hospital for shock because he watched his wife and son get sucked into the ocean.

please tell me how you determine how an orginization is reputable or not. I would LOVE to donate more money to charities but I am always skeptical of where the $$$ goes.

Can you believe CNN has on its webpage "Tsunamis shatter celebrity holidays." Who the *** cares about a few celebrities vacation been disrupted when you have over 60,000 people dead. Unreal.

The following organization is reputable http://www.redcross.org/.

I have just contributed the amount of my usual bet to the Canadian Red Cross, which has already raised over $2 million for Asia tsunami relief. Giving online is easy and they email a PDF file that can be printed and is accepted by Canadian Revenue for tax deduction.

sherman, the only organizations you can be sure are reputable are the ones who have been around a while and have contacts in those countries. the red cross is probably the biggest aid organization in the world. i am sure they are reputable. world vision is an organization that helps out in these sort of disasters all the time. they also have a program where people can sponsor children in impoverished countries...not necessarily countries with natural disasters but, just poor. they have been around for years and i know the money given to them gets to the people who need it.

As some have stated, I'm also VERY leery giving to charities so rarely do. I'm donating for this cause, what a tragedy, the survival kit seems appropriate. The BS all over CNN about the one celebrity chick is quite disturbing, they're still playing this numberous times daily.
