Would anyone lay 20 percent in football? The locals in Hawaii all charge that and I think it is crazy with all the offshores that are legit. But they run from that here and lay 120 to win 100.

A local guy here started charging 20 cents for NBA and he quickly lost alot of his business to offshore. Pass the word to these players so they atleast have a fair chance to win.

I talked with about five guys locally and every one of them said they are more comfortable with the local 20 percent.

Hilo, I wish them the best. You should offer them with 19 cent vig and get the business. ;)

It would be funny to hear them offer "Reduced Juice Wednesdays" or something like that, where they reduce the vig and you "only" lay -110 to win 100

110 already kills most people, why would you go to -120 as a standard? crazy

Only people left not going offshore are willing to pay because it isn't about the money to them, just the action. I bet these locals get very little action, but what they get is a gravy train. The -120 chased those with an iota of common sense off. Would you rather have a short list of very high margin players with almost no risk or lots more action with much more volatility and many Wednesdays you have to pay out?

What Hilo Boy is not telling you guys that the trade off for playing with a local in Hawaii is THE LINES DO NOT MOVE HERE. EVER. Yes, the locals here charge 6/5 juice (we call sports gambling here "6/5") but once the bookie comes out with a "sheet" (a listing of the rotation with numbers) THE LINES DO NOT MOVE. No matter how much Vegas or offshore steams a line.

That creates INCREDIBLE VALUE for those of us lucky enough to have a local in Hawaii. Often, you can find line differences of 4 points or more, setting up middling opportunities, etc. Anybody that bitches about betting 6/5 in Hawaii is not telling you the whole picture.

I use to deal with people allthe time from Hawaii and I was astounded at what some books get away with there. Alot of post up shops from my experience over there. I had one guy who was down about 800 and he wanted to bet another 800 on a side, before the book would take the bet, he had to drive his car over there and leave the keys with the book while the game went on. Thank god he won and got to drive home that night. From the way he explained it to me, it was sort of set up like aLV sportsbook with TV's all over the place, where people would come to watch the games there and hang out.

Plenty of locals move the line including China Town. The reason I most get at paying 20 percent is that they want to be able to collect in person Tuesday etc

I'd lay the -120 on lines that moved say 3+ points on BB sides, nice middle shots.

I have a feeling there is alot more paying than collecting and with 20 cent lines there is little hope that it will change anytime soon.
