Either way, if you play "music" on hold, as a book, make the CEO listen to it for 5 minutes. It shouldn't be a torture to listen to it. It should just make you aware the line is still connected, not drive you to hang-up. I usually put it on speaker phone so my hands are free. Sometimes I've resorted to piling magazines on top of the phone in order to drown out that cacophony coming from the speakers of a cordless phone !
It drives me to dis-connect after a short time. I could stand Tina Turner murdering CCR's rolling on a river, even.
This book music is cruel and unusual punishment ! Give the jouvenile offenders a sentence of listening to 48 hours worth of these tapes, you'll scare them straight !
I don't expect them to know my favorite song, just something that is tolerable, maybe something mellow by Beatles, even Neil Diamond singing "Delta Dawn", if he even sang that thing. Just not crap so loud it's distorted.
