I have a very poor memory so wondered if others could help:

How have teams fared in the past when resting regulars at the end of the season? So far this year Philadelphia and Atlanta have been comprehensively beaten and there are a lot more teams in the same situation this week. As bad as San Fran are, I'm surprised they're getting 14 points from New England.

Also, aren't there often home teams who have been eliminated who are still fighting for contracts or an 8-8 record, or even each other, who upset teams striving for the playoffs? I'm tempted by Washington +4.5 and even Miami +11 on the road.

I know I read Pitt will rest starters...do not look for Big ben or the Bus this week....Cowher said he will empty his bench rotating players....which is a good thing IMO , get them some playing time...

I could not agree more with jj. These games where starters are being rested cause some interesting looking lines that make a lot of gamblers think, "I have to do something with that."

Well you really don't.

Last week there were significant line moves towards the team not resting players. It seems a little weird. We know McNabb won't play much and then when it's confirmed the line moves. Is the same going to happen this week; an hour before kickoff we hear Brady is going to be replaced by Rohan Davey after a quarter and the line drops to 10.5?

I'm more imterested in teams with seemingly nothing to play for. Maybe I'm still bummed I backed the Seahawks at Arizona last year.

Tthe Steelers will need a big game from veteran quarterback Tommy Maddox, who will be rusty (his brief appearance last week was his first since injuring his throwing elbow Week 2) and doesn't move well. Pittsburgh prefers to run the ball (second-most 153.8 yards per game) but Jerome Bettis and Deuce Staley could be rested Sunday against Buffalo's tough rush defense (allowing fifth-fewest 96.5 yards per game).

The Bills have come too far to come up empty Sunday and a victory by the Bills is very likely. The problem is the 9 point spread. WTF 9 points, no one lays 9 points, especially against a 14-1 team. Pasadena.
