question for single guys , or married ones who can relate

i'm a single guy who can cook the basics . nothing fancy. most of the time what i make is kind of bland.

my question is , do you eat out for the bulk of your meals or do you attempt to cook stuff for yourself ?

is eating out cost effective ?

compared to what time you waste shopping, cooking , cleaning , throwing away food that went bad .

might experiment for 2 weeks of just ordering out and see what difference it makes.

I find eating at home is better for me. Eating out really seems to be costly IMO and I tend to eat more junk. Obviously, it depends on how much you eat also as far as cost.

As one who has done both, eating in is much cheaper,but time consuming. I learned to cook many years ago,and truely enjoy it when I have the time. BTW a very good way to impress women.

dont eat much junk. normally pretty healthy.

for a dinner you can order and pick up like an Outback Special in the $11.00 range , it would cost close to as much to prepare at home and probably not be as good.

if you eat out most of the time, you will:

1) spend more money
2) eat less healthy
3) eat bigger portions

so, you will be fat and have less cash.

i eat out everyday, and im far from fat. Just dont make it fast food. When you do cook for yourself, try to make something that you can eat for a few days. Try soup,chili, spaghetti...things like that.

plus, when i was single and i went out to eat by myself, i always kinda felt like a loser. sitting at the table by myself, eating eggs and hashbrowns, reading a book on how to play agressive no limit hold 'em. i felt like people were looking at me and feeling sorry for me or something.

i'm married now so its not an issue. i did usually get it to go. but, once in a while i would go out to breakfast by myself. most of the time, i'd meet a friend at the restaurant but, once in a while i would go out to breakfast by myself if i was sick of cereal or oatmeal. i just remember feeling like a loser.

other than breakfast , i would bring it home.

unless i can get some cooking lessons from the Judge , their isnt much thats edible around this house. i can make pretty good sandwiches like george costanza can.
