The following is an example that I am sure has happened to virtually everyone that posts in this forum. How we all deal with it and what is really the right thing to do may vary from gambler to gambler...

Let's say that you decide to BET the KNICKS laying 2 against Cleveland in Hoops of course. However, before the game starts, the line drops to a PICK IT, and more importantly, you believe you made a mistake betting on the KNICKS.

Your "GUT" tells you Cleveland is the RIGHT side but if you were to change course at this time, you'd risk getting MIDDLED and/or SIDED by betting the new "line" at minus $1.10....

Obviously, there are many different ways to handle this predicament. Of course, one purist might argue NOT to touch the bet at all, whereas the other extreme might be to buy CLEVELAND all the way back to plus 2 but with a minus $1.50 JUICE on one bet and a MINUS $1.10 on the other for a whopping 60 cents total in VIGORISH!!!

Therefore, since I believe this has happened to ALL of you at one time or another, what do YOU do when this scenario happens?

Thanks In Advance,

THE SHRINK

Ken,
I cross my fingers and hope there is a decent hedge available on the 2nd half line. Of course, you could avoid the polish-middle in this case by buying points (CRIS, Pinny, etc ..).

Lander,

A good friend of mine approaches this the same way you just mentioned by hoping to hedge at halftime...

That is not how I do it though but I can't argue against it as a viable alternative...

I ride out the original bet. Or call the book and tell them my dog stole my password and placed the bet.

Unfortunately, some people actually do this and some get away if they are betting on credit.
