It always puzzles me why NFL teams dont use this formation on short yardage.

Damn didn't come out right. Full back is directly behind quater back. Two half backs are the split to either side of full back. You the run a sweep with 4 options. You can hand off to full back inside, the qb can turn it up field just outside the tackle. He can pitch to one half back just outside of end. Or pitch to second halfback further outside of end. I believe it's basic design is to put more offensive weapons to a side than there are defenders.

No Slim you can also pass off of it. Usually after the fake to the FB the QB drops back to pass. Although teams that run it don't pass very often.

The theory is that you can beat them consistantly up front and stop gap blitzing with the 3 options.

Bookie, the speed of the NFL defenders makes this very difficult to succeed. Someone tried it occassionally some years back, just didn't work.

Lander, I believe it was, Was also used by someone else, but can't remember who. NFL defenses are also much more disciplined which makes it hard to run.

one of the greatest offenses to run in high school, very hard for the other team to defend, we won 3 state championships in the 80`s running this offense. the other team can be bigger or faster but needs lots of discipline. and on the high school level if run correctly can be unstoppable

yes judge, Brooke High School, we won the state 3 times in the 80`s, but ran into Randy Moss and Jayson Williams in the early 90`s
