San Francisco 49ers Matt Leinart, QB USC
Tim Rattey is a serviceable NFL quarterback but when you have the top pick looking for an elite quarterback is always a safe route. San Francisco could try to trade this pick but I think Leinart is the logical choice if he declares and the 49ers stay in the top spot. I think the chances are more likely that San Francisco will trade this pick than Leinart not declaring.
2. Miami Dolphins Cedric Benson, RB Texas
One can only hope that if this is the choice for the Dolphins he works out better than the last Texas running back they had on their roster. Benson is a tough inside runner who would be the best running back option for the offense if they don't trade down in an effort to acquire more draft picks.
3. Cleveland Browns Antrel Rolle, CB Miami (FL)
Rolle could be the best player available in the entire draft class at any position. Daylon McCutcheon and Anthony Henry are not starting corners that strike fear into opposing teams. Rolle would step in and start from day 1.
4. Tennessee Titans Alex Barron, OT Florida State
The top 3 tackles on this team are ages 31, 33 and 34. Not to mention Tennessee is going to have to cut some people due to the cap this year and the most likely candidate looks to be Brad Hopkins. With this type of turnover the Titans would be crazy not to take the top offensive tackle in this draft and that is Alex Barron. The only other scenario I possibly see would be taking Derrick Johnson because he would be the best natural athlete on the board at this point
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Derrick Johnson, LB Texas
The Buccaneers have more pressing needs but just imagine Johnson learning along the side of Derrick Brooks. It would be a shame to see him still on the board with the #7 pick because he is the best natural athlete of this draft

6. Arizona Cardinals Aaron Rogers, QB California
The Buccaneers have more pressing needs but just imagine Johnson learning along the side of Derrick Brooks. It would be a shame to see him still on the board with the #7 pick because he is the best natural athlete of this draft
7. Detroit Lions Matthias Kiwanuka, DE Boston College
The Lions could use some secondary help as well and I think the Lions may look there in the next round. Kiwanuka gives the Lions a relentless pass rusher and someone who could push the rather disappointing Kalimba Edwards for playing time.
8. San Diego Chargers (From NYG) Jammal Brown, OT Oklahoma
Since the Chargers have multiple picks in the first round they can start by making their offensive line stronger. The line has played better than expected this year but depth is still an issue. Brown could be paired with Shane Olivea for years to come.
9. Dallas Cowboys Mike Williams, WR USC
By the start of next season the starters will be 33 and 30 years old respectively. Mike Williams could learn behind two cagey veterans in Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn while seeing considerable time right from the start of the season. The Cowboys have another first round pick so the risk here is significantly less than other teams who would look at Williams.
10. Oakland Raiders Carnell Williams, RB Auburn
At 74.9 yards a game the Raiders currently have the worst rushing offense in the NFL. Carnell Williams would bring instant credibility to the offense regardless of whether Kerry Collins or Rich Gannon is the quarterback.
11. Washington Redskins Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin
Renaldo Wynn and Ron Warner are the starters so looking for a young stud to give the team a pass rush would be welcomed. James also adds the ability to disrupt the passing lanes even when he doesn't reach the quarterbac
12. Chicago Bears Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan
There will be some who would be angered by this pick because of the inconsistent track record being sported by David Terrell (another Michigan wide receiver from a few years back). Edwards is a better prospect who has the size to work the middle of the field and the athleticism to go long and stretch the defense.
13. Carolina Panthers DBrickashaw Ferguson, OT Virginia
The Panthers line looks very different than the one that went to the Super Bowl last year. Ferguson is the best lineman on the board at this point but trying to get a guard is a possibility and Ferguson's teammate at Virginia Elton Brown, would be the choice if they go for the interior.
14. New Orleans Saints Ahmad Brooks, LB Virginia
Brooks is only a sophomore but he would be a perfect fit for the Saints. With Sedrick Hodge and Courtney Watson already in the fold this could be a nice linebacking corps for the next four years in New Orleans.
15. St. Louis Rams David Pollack, DE Georgia
The Rams could look at cornerback just as easily as defensive end. Leonard Little may not be back and the team is still smarting from losing Grant Wistrom in the free agency last year. Pollack is the most complete defensive end in this draft because he plays the run just as well as the pass.
16. Kansas City Chiefs Marlin Jackson, CB Michigan
I am not sure if Marlin Jackson is the man at this point but I think a safety is the other spot the Chiefs decide to look if they don't go for a cornerback. The secondary remains the biggest need on a defense that needs help everywhere.
Houston Texans Marcus Spears, DE LSU
Spears would be the best fit at this stage in the 3-4 front that the Texans like to employ. Getting another LSU player (Corey Webster) at cornerback is another possibility in this slot.
18. Cincinnati Bengals Rodrique Wright, DT Texas
The Bengals need more beef in the middle of the line and I think at this point deciding between Wright and Anttaj Hawthorne is what the Bengals will be doing.
19. Seattle Seahawks Channing Crowder, LB Florida
Seattle has been thin at linebacker all season. At one point the top four linebackers on the depth chart were all out of the lineup due to injury. Crowder is a bit of a character risk but has tremendous upside. Michael Boley of Southern Mississippi has a shot to go here as well.
20. Green Bay Packers Dan Cody, DE Oklahoma
Active defensive end that is very versatile and can be moved around the line. One of the most complete defensive ends in the NCAA right now and he always seems to step up in big games. Packers could look towards the secondary and there will be talk about a quarterback once again.
21. Minnesota Vikings Heath Miller, TE Virginia
Just imagine how dominating this offense could be with a young athletic tight end like Heath Miller. We have seen the extra dimension it added in Indianapolis once Dallas Clark was drafted. The Vikings could concentrate on defense for the next couple of rounds after getting this selection out of the way.Jacksonville Jaguars Shaun Cody, DT USC
Cody is really a DE. The Jaguars are set with Stroud and Henderson at tackle but they are shorthanded at defensive end. This is a slam dunk regarding position, the question is which defensive end the Jaguars will like the best.
23. Denver Broncos Anttaj Hawthorne, DT Wisconsin
The Denver Broncos seem to rotate their interior lineman quite often and they have some decisions to make next season. Monsanto Pope is not signed through next season and Trevor Pryce counts over 6 million dollars towards the salary cap. Hawthorne is a player that could be moved around the line and could even play end if asked to do so. Hawthorne would be a perfect fit in Denver
24. Baltimore Ravens Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma
One thing we all know is that Kyle Boller needs more weapons to throw the ball to. Clayton could prove to be a valuable slot receiver right from day 1.
25. Dallas Cowboys (from Buf) Pac-Man Jones, CB West Virginia
It seems like the Cowboys have to take a cornerback every year. Derek Ross didn't pan out and injuries forced the Cowboys to be shorthanded in the early portion of the season. A speedy defensive lineman is a possibility here as well.
26. New York Jets Elton Brown, OG Virginia
With no offensive guards off the board the Jets decide to act quickly. Elton Brown provides the Jets with an upgrade of Brandon Moore and Pete Kendall at guard. Brown is athletic enough to move downfield with the Jets blocking scheme, something they need with their strong running game.
27. Atlanta Falcons Other, Put name in explanation ->
Haloti Ngata : Defensive Tackle : Oregon. If Ngata declares he will be one of the most followed players on draft day. At close to 350 pounds Ngata is a guy who has the size to play in running situations immediately.
28. San Diego Chargers Other, Put name in explanation ->
Kirk Morrison : Linebacker : San Diego State. This would allow the Chargers some valuable depth behind Donnie Edwards and Randall Godfrey. Morrison played his college ball in the area and the team is very familiar with his style of play.
29. Indianapolis Colts Justin Miller, CB Clemson
The Colts always seem to be drafting cornerbacks and Justin Miller possesses a tremendous amount of athleticism. It also seems like everyone in the Colts secondary is 5-9 and under so getting a player like Miller adds a little more height. Miller would be used as a return man and would replace Brad Pyatt.
30. New England Patriots David Baas, OG, Michigan
The Patriots use a lot of different offensive line combinations and getting a guard with a nasty streak is something the team will be looking to do in the offseason. Baas already has an NFL build and the transition to the NFL should be quite easy.
31. Philadelphia Eagles Ronnie Brown, RB Auburn
Brian Westbrook is one of the fastest guys in the NFL but he has a history of injuries and his size may limit him to 15 carries a game. Dorsey Levens will not be coming back next season and nobody knows how Correll Buckhalter will respond after his second season-ending knee injury in three years. Brown gives the Eagles a reserve with some size that can catch the football out of the backfield.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers Travis Johnson, DT Florida St.
Travis Johnson could server as the perfect "tweener" for this team. He could play nose tackle in passing situations while the team utilizes his quickness. Johnson could also serve as a defensive end in a 3-4 front.

Would be surprised to see Cleveland take another Cornerback so high as listed above. They already have a lock up corner in Anthony Henry.......

I should mention that the Eagles have 5 picks in the first three rounds of the draft. Not bad for a team that has had 3 straight 12+ win seasons. :suomi:

Wait a sec.........Oakland beat Tampa earlier this year. If they both finish at 5-11 doesn't Tampa move in front of them in the draft??

i agree . he and braylon edwards will make a difference right away. just like roy williams and larry fitzgerald.

the chargers should grab one of them to play with rivers for 10 years. or brees if he hangs around.
