From Collegefootballnews.com. The question is; should Tate be mentioned as a Heisman Candidate for 2005?

No one is going to mention Iowa QB Drew Tate in the 2005 Heisman race, but he'll certainly deserve preseason consideration. Would Matt Leinart or Jason White have carried the 2004 Hawkeyes the way Tate did? Could you imagine how good Tate would've been with Adrian Peterson, LenDale White or Reggie Bush in the backfield? Tate defines the word moxie always making plays out of impossible situations, and now he'll forever hold a special place in Hawkeye hearts for one big moment capping off one fantastic year.

I doubt he will be able to duplicate the performances that Bush, Leak, Peterson, etc have next season.

The Heisman is meaningless...

Personally i am sick of this award, WAAAAY too much hype about it, no one even remebers it once the guy goes pro, if he even does (see Eric Crouch).

It usually is given to the wrong player anyway!

Eric Crouch also won the award for "Most underdressed at an important event" When he wore a button down T-shirt and kakhis to the frikken heisman ceremony.

I just thought it was funny. Something that probably nobody else noticed.

edit: THIS YEARS ceremony that is.

Heisman is all hype, many of these players never do much after college....

Ginn Jr. is the most talented player in college, but he's a wide reciever, not many WR win the Heisman trophy...he will be the next big thing...Deion like ability!

Tate is the real deal ... Iowa is a coming power and Tate will be a High draft pick in the Pros

Iowa got a steal when this picked this kid up out of Texas .. Texas would be unbelievable if they had Tate @ QB and let Young run wild ...

Tate is special and this year is no fluke ..

Go Hawks!

Agreed that Heisman is not what it once was. It seems the most value comes from a school getting exposure for the polls and recruiting.
