As the football seasons come to an end the board looks mighty light without pucks up there. I think I'm going to suffer from withdrawal after March Madness ends and I have to play the Never Bet Again league.

was the XFL profitable? I could see General Pete getting into that one (once WNBA season ended, of course).

I thought the XFL lines were soft, much the way he feels solid in WNBA.

Another great quality of Canadians -- there love of the world's second greatest game. I miss seeing the under-talented Sabres fight like heck for some points.

I don't like to watch it, but it's a good betting game for me. Esp. if you have a book that lets you parlay pucklines with totals, if there are any left.

I agree, they should just settle it and have a "festival" style season, everyone plays just a home and away game with conference foes, then you get into the playoffs right away. Bettman could get that up and running in February, but sadly we all know he won't.

The NHL is cursed by its tradition. The lack of scoring not only makes the game not that exciting but its too much short term luck and randomness to the game. As a fan I want to see the difference in skill every game.

If the sport was radically changed were goals per game went up from 4-5 to 20+ the game would be extremely exciting. I want to see the best players in the game using their skill and have that skill rewarded in a goal.

If in the beginning they started out with goals that were 2x wider the sport would have been way more popular. Now, nobody gives a **** about hockey. It would be different if there was more scoring.

That isn't true Kobe. If they did what you said all the die-hard fans they have now would call it a farce and stop watching it. The NHL does fine without the "casual" fan and it should never aspire to be more than it is. The salaries and ticket prices though price out the good fans and leave it up to corporate types to fill the expensive seats. That model works for a glamour sport like the NBA or NFL, but doesn't work for hockey. The game needs to get back to being somewhat more affordable so the good seats, close to the ice are filled with passionate fans and then nobody will care if they score 5 goals a game because the energy from a hockey game alone can make the sport entertaining for those who don't have ADD to start with.
