Just to make my night a little better. A Houston paper is reporting that the NEW YORK METS will sign Beltran. Wow. WHat a night.

Anna Benson went down to Houston and had a little meeting with him..

Straightened him right out if you know what i mean.. She knew he would cum to his senses sooner or later.. She's hoping the Mets didnt shoot their whole wad on just him..

The Mets must have felt the same-city pressure to grossly overspend. On the good side neither of these guys are named Fat Toad or Kevin "Wall" Brown.

beltran is the best free agent i have seen over the last 5 years.

offense - he switch hits, has incredible speed and home run power from both sides of the plate. he is a very rare muscular but lean power player type not the jacked up pujols, ortiz looking thing of the modern player. the guy is a run scoring machine.

defense - he covers CF as good as any, he is incredible quick and agile with terrefic leaping abilty. can gun it to home, and rob home runs most can not. can get the ball out with either hand. it's like having 4 OF's when he is playing.

he even made the royals a division leader for the early portion of 03, contended in 04 and then proceeded to play on a stros team that had their most memorable playoff run.

Beltran is an absolute phenom. watched him play many times on the package. if you havent seen a lot of the kid in the RS, youll go ga-ga over this talent. id say about 20 teams got caught sleeping.

Houston is a launching pad in the power alleys.

For his sake, he better start fast in NY. Kind of funny he was quoted as he was shy in the big city. I think he should have stayed in Houston.

Yeah....they got a hill. So they can look over the fence to see where the ball went.

I'm a Mets fan and hate this signing. Need so much more then this.

Then trade Beltran to the Cubs for Sosa and Farnsworth. :howdy:

Met the kid at the bar, nice kid, he lays of the alcohol and is not a juicer. He's a little over-rated because of the playoff performance. He may be the best center fielder in the majors. Should hit around 278.

I say hie hits like 280

He is no superstar though, too quiet and not competitve enough for big City

A-Rod struggled and he was way better than Beltran

.

Put down the glass pipe, :smoker2: if you think he's the best thing to come around in 5 years, you definitely do not follow baseball. Just like with the majority of their free agents, Mets got taken and aren't going anywhere with a 15 million a year .267 hitter
