Mets up to their old tricks....

Beltran looks like a can't miss but lets not forget Carlos Beltran was a 20 homer 100 RBI guy with Kansas City before catching fire in the bandbox known as Minute Maid park...he parlayed a hot 2nd half with a post season no one will soon forget and now he's a 7 year 119 Million Dollar man:WTF:

Beltran is a career 20 homer 100 RBI guy .280 hitter :icon_conf , yes he has a great glove and yes he is still a bases threat...7 year guaranteed contracts are a joke...

Typical NYM offseason trying to make a splash in NYC, with Beltran and Pedro...:nono5:

And so it goes......

With his age and his production to this point, the sky's the limit with this kid. Certainly, playing in Minute Made inflated his #'s, but he's legit. The 7 yr guarentee, I don't know either. These baseball players must thank God everyday for Donald Feher, b/c without that type of union none of these contracts would be possible.

i know. it pisses me off too. the NFL system is the best. no gauranteed money and a salary cap that makes sense for every team in the leauge. i like the NBA exception too. allowed to pay any amount to an FA and go over the cap in order to retain the player.

these MLBers, they want big contracts and no trade clauses, then when a few guys make more than them at thier position they want the deal restructred. its pathetic. its no wonder the MLB is stuck in such a rut right now.

baseball is a great game, but its about the players more and more every year ever since orel herchiser signed for 3 mil per and made the cover of newsweek for it.

hey j-man this morning im not saying thats good money ball for the mets or thats justified money being paid, im just saying carlos is a great player. if i had it my way, hed still be a royal. they only traded him becuase they knew they couldnt afford him.

Beltran is a fine player, could be a great player, doubt he's a Hall OF Fame calibur... but perhaps never before has a player capitalized more in a half season..

Beltran's market value skyrocketed...then again if Varitek is worth 10 Mill per, who knows anymore..
