me and my 9 year old daughter go at it daily with an old playstation 1 racing game. she beats me 8 out of 10 times.

i dont care about the shoot em up games , just racing .

and it needs to be where 2 players compete against each other.

what are the best games ?

XBox graphics have a slight distinct edge over PS2... Since racing is one of the more popular games made, I think as far as games go it may be equal, just with racing games....Overall PS2 has better and more games...

What kind of racing game? If you're talking about fun racing games geared towards kids then actually Nintendo is your best bet because Mario Kart: double dash is fricken awesome. One of my fave games.

Xbox has Burnout 3 (which isn't a racing game but yet a game where you drive your car into oncoming traffic in various places all over the world in an effort to cause the most damage, counted up by $$$ after your "Wreck") The game is so awesome!

Xbox also has Project Gotham Racing 2 which is a great game. Rallisport Challenge 2 is another GREAT racing game only on Xbox. MotoGP2 is a great moto racing game.

PS2 has the grand daddy in Gran Turismo 4 which comes out soon but it's more of a simulator.

Gran Turismo 3 is only $19.99 now and it's great. Ps2 also has burnout 3 and that's really about it.

If you want a system for the best racing games I'd suggest Xbox. For kids Gamecube is the best system although I think it's by far still the most fun.

Also have NASCAR games for both all three systems.

Xbox the best single system though because of the harddrive. You can save literally 100,000 saved games and barely dent the hard drive where as that would cost you like a million dollars in ps2 memory.

Racing games are ALL you care about?

racing games are what we have competed at so far.

she isnt into the sports games and i'm not really into the shoot and destroy games.

so racing games is where we have the most fun.

it wouldnt be any fun if it was a game where 1 person plays , then the other person tries to beat their score.

thanks for the info.

Just curious WNO, do you use the steering wheel as well?

NO . We play the most basic game their is. Its CTR Crash Team Racing. Different tracks with stuff in the way and you are racing against each other. Had this game for 5 years. Just started playing it together in the last month or so.

I would like to try those steering wheel games though.

I've got the nascar and indy car game but never tried it with her. hell , i'm not even sure if 2 people can play those at the same time.

real novice here . can you tell !

Mario Kart is what you want. It's very good for kids (you'll see why when you play it) and has head-to-head racing. There are some very advanced tactics in the game but they are not required for friendly playing. The game is very good.

it's actually a $50 game which comes FREE with the Gamecube system ($99)

Gamecube would be very good for a child that is 9 years old too as most of their games are very childish in nature (not all...just some)

Nintendo gamecube has some of the absolute BEST and most fun games though so it's a very good investment.

Do it....Place the order now (or just go to your local Target and pick one up)

Only comes with one controller (like the other two systems) so you'll need to fork over the $20 for a 2nd.

I'm tellin' ya man... This game is serious fun. I've beat it several times and me and my friend play it all the time in time trial mode to beat our best times. We've gotten the top times on every course so fast that we can't even beat them anymore LOL

good info bro..

thanks for taking the time.

You bring home a gamecube for your daughter and you'll forever be her hero.

Forgot to mention that inside the holiday bundle for the Gamecube is a $15.00 of coupon for any nintendo game reedemable anywhere. So you can buy your cube...open it up in your car, take out the $15.00 card and walk back into the store and buy any of the number of $20.00 games (All the mario games are good, so is monkeyball 1 &2) for $15.

Gamecube is the best value and the ONLY option for kids IMO. Too many violent games on the other systems... Games actually made by nintendo are all very fun and innocent in nature. No killing, etc. Fun for kids and adults.

That game looks like a winner to play against a kid...I think I will try that one too WorldRunner...thanks for the tip....

WNO, we both have a daughter, we seem to be in a similar situation...nothing better than being with mine, I wouldn't trade my time with her for anything...

Jman, I go to bed every night and i cant wait until morning so her and i can hang out again. she excedes every expectation i ever had about being a dad .

we lost her mom 8 years ago when she was 20 months old. she has handled that like an adult.

i'm very lucky. i just wish she wouldnt kick my ass every day at these games.

i believe in mario kart you can race against each other or play as team, one drives while the other shoots things at other racers.
