I was able to see a lot of cleveland games and Omar Vizquel has been my favorite.. Detroit is finally building a team again, so I wont be watching much of cleveland anymore with Vizquel in San Fran

The way Omar can barehand a high hopper and throw to first in one motion is amazing to me... and although I think its a little bit of showboating, but when he turns his back to the infield to catch a pop fly, that takes skill.

Vizquel one of my all time favorite players to watch play too. Has nothing on the Wizard though.

I love pitching guys...which is the primary defense in baseball. First guy I would say is Greg Maddux. I've always loved watching this guy work. Absolutely amazing.

As far as defensive players behind the pitcher..I'll throw out a couple names....

Andruw Jones
Jim Edmonds
Khalil Greene
Derek Lee
Vlad
Omar, and Roberto
Izturis and Cora

actually after watching pokey reese on a regular basis really turned me on to defense. in 04 I really learned how important defense is on the diamond.

pokey just gobbled stuff up I never thought possible he showed me the way on the "basket catch" and seeing minky stretch out for grabs to make outs on poorly thrown balls it made me appreciate it so much more it really enhanced my enthusiasm for the game of baseball. I never realized how much of a liability nomar was until I saw superior players on defense like pokey and cabrera.

guys that save runs are every bit as important as guys who produce runs

Used to be Mark Kotsay. Don't know if he still has the arm he used to have, but I remember one game where he threw THREE guys out at home. One of the longest standing o's I ever heard.

Mike Piazza playing first base for the Mets last year was entertaining to watch. Every ball hit to him was an adventure.

Aurelio !! you are showing that age of yours. i grew up in and around detroit , he was a god with that black glove.

3 players come to mind for me

Edmonds
Hunter
Vladdy . nobody takes even a step off the base when he's lining one up.
