Looks like the Pats want to slow down the 2005 version of the 'greatest show

on turf'...they are keeping the field UNCOVERED til 24hours before game time...A little home cooking:howdy:

Shouldn't this be a league rule, seems a bit much that a team could do this purposely in this day and age?

Reminded me of the Miami/NE playoff game in a snowstorm many years ago, where the ex-convict comes out on the field with a snowplow to pave a nice surface for the NE FG kicker John Smith, to kick the game winning FG :finger:

They could play in the parking lot and Indy would win. NE's cornerbacks haven't slept in a week

Only thing their that is wet is the dbs for New England's pants thinking about giving up +400 yards and 5 TDs in a playoff game.

"Snow Plow Game" between the Patriots and Miami Dolphins in 1982. The Patriots won 3-0 when New England head coach Ron Meyer had a snow plow driver clear a patch of field so that John Smith could better attempt a 33-yard field goal, which he made. --

Sure they can do whatever they want to the field....but it's because they know they can't contain the colts offence on a regular playing surface that's all.

Might be too late but the field should've been covered yesterday as the NFL told them they have to cover the field. But you know what, the COLTS will beat them on any surface. The first game of the season the Pats didn't beat the Colts, the Colts beat the Colts with stupid mistakes. Won't happen 2 times in a row against the same team! Best QB, Best wideouts = a win. Defense or no defense. manning doesn't get hurt they win. From start to finish I look for the Colts to be in front!

Exactly, 2Times! If Colts are so f...in good why are they playing on the road at Razor every year (Hint: they must have been beaten more times in regular season) .
It amazes me that this 'juggernaut' that so many are calling the Colts lost three times this year. 3 teams have found a way to out-score them, but the defending Super Bowl Champs with a better record at home should be cowed by
a b ig game choke like Manning!!??

Snow plow game was hilarious. That got them in the playoffs to play Miami again who thouroughly whooped up on them. Colts roll here. No chance for Pats backfield to slow the horse down. They better try and get in a shootout which i don't think favors brady.

I can not believe how confident the Colts backers are. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE comes to the Razor and wins. Plus they seem to forget their D sucks, and Dungy couldn't hold Bellichek's jock strap.:hump:

The past is the past. Let's talk about the present. Pats are a very good team...don't get me wrong. But I don't think they can stop the colts with their current injury situation.

I guess we'll see on Sunday

Off the Net..

Patriots coach Ron Meyer wanted to steal a game, so he did the obvious thing. He called for a burglar. Convicted burglar Mark Henderson stepped forward, and literally pulled a clever snow job on the Miami Dolphins, leaving them 3 - 0 losers to New England.

Because of the snowstorm, neither team had even remotely threatened to score a touchdown. Each attempted a field goal that failed because of the inclement weather.

However, with 4:45 remaining, New England ground out a drive that stalled out at the Miami 16-yard line. The Patriots then called time to let kicker John Smith clear away a spot on the slick, snow-covered field for a crucial field goal attempt that could win the game.

Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in Coach Meyer's sneaky mind. "I saw John Smith on his hands and knees trying to get the snow cleared, and all of a sudden it hit me," recalled Meyer. "Why not send a snow plow out there?"

He raced down the sideline looking for the operator of the John Deere snow plow that had been clearing the yard lines during time-outs. The operator happened to be Mark Henderson, 24, who was serving a 15-year sentence for burglary at Norfolk State Prison and was on the Schaefer Stadium maintenance crew as part of a work-release program. Meyer told Henderson to clear off a spot on the field for Smith.

As you might expect of a person with his address, Henderson jumped when the command was given. He made a beautiful initial fake with the snow plow by retracing his previous path along the 20-yard line. Then, catching officials and Dolphins off guard, he swerved to his left, sweeping snow ahead of him and leaving a perfect swath of green SuperTurf between the 23- and 25-yard lines. It was the best sweep the Patriots fans had seen in years.

The Dolphins cursed and threatened Henderson. But no one stopped him. Explained defensive tackle Bob Baumhower, "I saw him coming, but what was I supposed to do? No way I'm going to take on a plow."

The Dolphins cried foul, insisting the snow plow play was illegal. But the term "illegal" meant something quite different to the team than it did to Henderson, the convicted burglar. "What were they gonna do?" he said afterward. "Put me in jail?"

I'm telling you right now the Pats will score point for point with that arena football team.

Manning wins trinkets.
Brady wins championships.

As long as the Pats don't win the SuperBowl it would have been a good year. As long as the refs don't let the Patriots 'tuck' or hold themselves to a win, the Colts should be in the driver's seat.

Pats are 29 and 2 over their last 31 starts but still get no respect. I think they like it that way. Colts fans remember you got a built in excuse when you lose. "The field was left uncovered on a cold and wet night how do you expect us to win". The real problem is going to be the temperature with the 4:30 Eastern start it will be dark and very cold by halftime. This should be great game, the Colts complained and got a rule change after last year's game but the irony is the rule has helped the Pats just as much this year. The refs call it both ways.

The Pats best defense against the Colts is their offense, they will look to run Corey Dillon, and have their customery have success with Tom Brady on 3rd down and keep Peyton off the field. It the Pats coaching staff is good at anything it's putting the team in a position to win the game then it is up to the players to execute and win the game (can you say Adam Vinatieri). This game could be real beginning of the Corey Dillon era in New England. If Dillon has a big game the Pats will advance if not they are in trouble. Great game on tap - may the best team win and the refs be a non factor.
