What is game 701?

Phila -5/203

Let me have game 701 To Win $200

Thank You

You do not ask for rundowns at 6:58PM or really never should ask for rundowns, know the games and team numbers you want to bet and get the *** off the phone and always have a schedule book handy when away from terminal.

What is game 701?

Phila -4

Two options here, you can bet if they are familair with X system or to win amount and anything on the number $500 or $1000 you say I want to win Nickel or Dime period and nothing else. Credit outfits a little better with rundowns due to clientel

Local Bookmaker/Most different from offshore

Mario for Big Sparrow

What this means is I am Mario and under or referred to by Big Sparrow who is familar with book and your referral.

You usually call first for rundowns and put on index card or schedule book and then you call back with bets.

Phila 40x
Spurs 40x

x=$5

20x roundy (round robin)

Jets
Indy
Rams

30x reverse

Phila
Spurs

Remember always ask for lines first with any type outfit or they will jump line on you

Outside of the Northeast and California, you are going to run into bookmakes who have no idea what "times" is. Especially down here in the southeast, unless the are from up there.

JJ, what's wrong with this?

"this is 12345, I need a college basketball line for Iowa and Ohio St."

Line is Ohio St -3, sir.

"I'll take Ohio St 110 for 100."

If I'm drunk at the bar and want to chase my 10K in losses on the day, I'm not going to have the game numbers in front of me!!

Viking- As much as you are involved in wagering, you need a pager that gives rotation numbers.

Many sportsbooks offer free pagers and service.

You can also keep a schedule in your back pocket or car trunk when your on the road.

All of the old timers would never let you bet parlays using X's, the sharp one's anyway.

This way there is no confusion.

Let me just say it is a big mistake to ask a clerk for the exact team by game number or team name that you want to bet on. 99% of the time it won't matter but I have seen clerks get a handle on player habits and add a half point or worse to guys who ask for the price of the team they are going to play. Always say 2901 JB game 700/701 please, same with totals - never ask what is the over in game 700 if you are looking to bet the over in that game. 2901 JB total for 700/701 please. When making a bet it is really advisable to get the actual team name on tape and not just the number, with today's menus team 701 - Philly -5 (and whatever juice you are laying). is stronger than team 701 -5. Also always use the amount you want to risk and win plus the juice you are laying when you qoute a figure. Please give me Team 701 Philly -5 -107 risking $1070 win $1000 (don't say for 1000). This will avoid any kind of dispute later when listening to a readback. No one wants to hear later during the read back OK sir you have team 701 Philly -5 -110 1100 to win 1000. You can now use the tape and prove what you asked for (in this case -107 etc.) if there has been a juice or even worse a line change during the call. I know this sounds like extra work but you will be surprized how few problems you will have.

As far as rundowns go, these days most books can give you your changes since the last call, so it doesn't hurt to get a rundwon once early in the day and keep changes on every call. Just say can I have my changes please, the clerk will know what you mean. He will then give you new lines on games that moved since your last call. The computer highlights changes for individual players for him.

Times bets anywhere are a dying method. Oldtime books used it for a kind of code in certain cities. 20 times is $100 for example. Basically a thing of the past almost everywhere especially offshore. Most clerks will say what? Lose this method of betting.

Remember pay attention to readbacks, clerks can hear something you did not really want, it's the players job to approve readback.

Hey wil, thanks for the insights from the front lines. Can you clarify what you mean by "please give me my changes?" Thanks. Also, I've called in hundreds of bets, and never once used game or team numbers. I've also never once heard the game numbers on the readback. Are the clerks pissed when I ask for the college football line on Penn St and Michigan St? I had never thought of any of this.

Illini how r ya? Hope all is well. Your changes are games that have had line or juice changes since your last rundown. Lets say you ask for a rundown at 10AM and call back in 20 minutes, rather than get another rundown to find out what games have moved at a particular book you can ask for changes. The computer will highlight any game that has changed once the clerk has entered you PIN. Sometime their may be none and he will say everything is the same. Then you can use the numbers from the old rundown. If there are changes he will say make game 700 Philly minus5.5, make Game 842 Syracuse minus 3 minus 20 etc. until you are updated with all the changes. Keeping changes is tricky and you need to pay attention. Sometime it is better to get a complete rundown from time to time. Be aware when getting a rundwon off big games being on post, most books are very busy at these times and a sharp player just getting a casual rundown will wait until the big game starts.

As far as game numbers go they are a big help to clerks especially on days with big schedules. These days the computers have different ways for a clerk to find teams. Alphabetically is the most common. On a college basketball Saturday finding say Missouri is not easy but a computer will help the clerk if he enters MI it will give him all the teams that start with MI.

I don't think the clerks are pissed at you if you simply ask for a game by using the name of the 2 teams playing each other, it just takes them a little longer to get you a number. Only a small percentage of players know how to bet with so called perfect protocol. The important thing is to pay atention to that readback and make sure you have the bets you want for the right amounts.

Have a great weekend, wil.:toast:

Hey wil, thanks buddy. Things have been going great for me the last month. I couldn't find my ass in early college basketball, but I've had a great run since just before Christmas. I will try to get a schedule out next time I call in a bet. Thanks again for the info.

I always want to use the rotation number when I call, but the clerks always ask for the team name. It's so much easier to use the rotation number.
