Well I think their is DIFFERENCE in rating the position

WHO ARE THE GREATEST "PASSERS"

WHO ARE THE GREATEST QUARTERBACKS

AT THE AGE OF 38 I AM NOT THE OLDEST HISTORIAN

But I say to all you new and old NFL FANS

please remeber the position is not called Quarterpasser

It has the "back" in its position title because you're to be able to DO more than just PASS

So, I think Marino and Manning will rank one and two at this point as the

GREATEST PASSERS...Sure I will give them that

ALL AROUND QUARTERBACK POSITION, WITH ALL SKILLS BEING WEIGHTED

Much different list:

MINE is JOHN ELWAY hands down. I am no where near a fan of the Broncos, but that MAN COULD DO IT ALL, and HE WAS VERY TALENTED AT ALL THINGS A QUARTERBACK COULD DO

This new era of football, has people thinking passing is all a QB does.

Drew Bledsoe could never run for 6 yards on a bootleg to get a first down in the snow

Dan Marino could not even get 4th and inches on a sneak, he would snap his archilles

and Peton Manning running, I have seen more athleticism out of a german shepard

I have NO PROBLEM giving John Elway top all around QB honors..Without question the Broncos were a one man show for the first three Super Bowls Elway got them to...

I doubt any other QB gets Denver to the first three Super Bowls, Elway carried them!

Elway was a great one. Many old timers claim Johnny U was the greatest. Sammy Baugh was the man is his day as well. I'd put the top 5 I've watched as:

Elway
Staubach
Montana
Tarkenton
Bradshaw

Boller is a close 6th.

WOW!!! Staubach.......Thanks Man!! Hey I grew up hating Joe Theismann. I love him now, and I look back as kid and remember how much of a winner he really was. He was a winner.

You were pretty damn QB MB, I like to think I could sling it OK as well. I am pulling a Todd Maronovich's Dad on my son. I have him thowing the ball through hoops I have hung from the rafters of the basement. I am pretty hard on him hahahaha lol

Newport: disappointed in you. The new era of qb is the ones like McNabb, Vick, etc. Qbs like Manning, Brady, Collins are old school. Vick gets a lot of hype and what did he do last week - threw for a 100 yards and ran for 120 yards. He will be hurt eventually. Elway liked to run, but did less after he got hurt. My guess is that Vick and McNabb will cut back their running also.

Vick has two big things going for him - number 1 rushing attack (which he is a big part of), and a top 10 defense. He adds little passing threat.

Smartest thing Indy could do is let Edge go and use that money for defense.

BTW - Manning had a rushing TD in the Wild card game. :103631605

Fair warning

I agree when you look at Vick and McNabb, they could be in the catgeory of John Elway......but results have to be there as well, not just potential

So You have to have very low turnover to TD ratio, and you have to make clutch decisions at the most important times, and you must be able to carry your team, when all else fails. So when Vick and McNabb do this with results, well then they can be regarded in this group as well. Brady can still roll out an run when needed, and his results are unmatched in the current world. His decision making is very strong, and he can carry his team. He is well on his way. Manning is not old school with no huddle and an audible type offense. Old School....huh???? His body and running style make him look old like Unitas old, but the offensive scheme around him is FAR from old school

Jarbo

Favre is WITHOUT a DOUBT in that category.

Impossible task to get a decisive #1. To many areas to evaluate.

I agree General, it is an opinion,

But I think some people do not break down

PASSER from QUARTERBACK..........The position will ALWAYS be called QUARTERBACK

Rings are the best way to rate QB's.... with the rare exception of teams like Baltimore a couple of years ago, the QB is the most important ingredient in championship teams.
