The party line is that ESPN did not want to re-new his contract. That would seem odd since Dibble was Dan Patrick's sidekick on his radio show and they were a good team together.

Good team together ? that might have been the worse Sports Radio show I have ever heard. The show is soft, boring, and most of the time they talk basically about nothing. Now if they can just get rid of Patrick, the most overrated Radio personality out there.

i will see if i can speak to "my people" at espn sometime soon and see if i can come up with something better than the crap espn is tossing our way. if they are gonna "can" anyone - START w//stuart scott!

as for dan patrick - one of the all-time nice and cool guys out there. i've played many a hoops game not only against his team - but guarding him and he does have some game. he also told me more than once - in not so nice words - to stop using my forearm and elbow when guarding him - even though to this day i insist i never did.

I like Dan Patrick's radio show. He gets the best guests and is always on top of the sports stories. And Dibble was the only guy on baseball tonight with balls. Took heat for saying Griffey was going to be a bust in Cinci. Was dead on with that prediction.

I think guests like going on his show because they know he will not ask any tough questions.

Owens was on his radio show and Owens cried because DP was asking him some tough questions. To this day Owens refuses to be interviewed by DP.

Too much ink, booze, smokes and women for Dibbs.

I personally think Dan Patrick is an ass. He is a name dropper and self righteous. He is always trying to make himself part of the interview or story by asking stupid and inflamantory questions. He needs to remember he is there to report sports not insert himself into the situation.

Have you ever seen the hair on his neck go up on-air when someone mentions Boomer Berman and calls him Patricks boss? He just about explodes! Dan Patrick invented Sports Broadcasting and ESPN would not and could not exist without him. Just ask Patrick.

Patrick did mention the non-renewal of the contract, but he also said that Dibble was working on some other opportunities. On paper, they were an unlikely pair but I thought they were good together.

I think the Owens interview was probably the only time Patrick was accused of asking tough questions. I agree that the show can be good when he brings on guests that give you info, but when there is no guests the showslides downhill fast because he rambles on about Reality shows, movies , and other nonsense. Like I said the show is SOFT. And for some reason that I can't figure out he is really high on himself

my opinion is that he got axed because he added nothing. whenever patrick would have a guest on, the only thing dibble would ever say is "hi joe" and about 10 minutes later..."take care joe".

i can do that.

I think Dibble made the show. I like Dan Patrick, but he needs someone like Dibbs to balance out the show and make it interesting. I don't feel like the show is worth listening to now the Dibbs is gone.

I read on another forum that said Dibble was axed because he punched out Stuart Scott at the ESPN Christmas party. Until this is confirmed I will put this down as an internet rumor.

I can't really stand to listen to Patrick as He is always whineing about something ! No wonder He can do Lou Holtz so well as it is almost his normal voice ! His show spends most of their time talking about something that means nothing to any real sports fan as it is more like a gossip show. :finger:

I remember when Dibble was playing he came in with the bases loaded and one out and threw one of those 100mph heaters- Barry Bonds hit it 500 feet on him. Next hitter bunts and Dibbs fields it and throws a 100 mph heater in the guys back running to first. AWESOME. He did that twice in his career I think.

If he sucks so bad then why are alot of his radio interviews aired on Sportscenter later in the day? The point is he does'nt suck and his guests are part of the sports news for that day.
