THIS IS STUNNING NEWS, VOLS FANS MUST BE IN A STATE OF SHOCK!

WOW, TURNER AND BUSH, WHAT A COMBO.

USC will be the unaminous #1 team in the preseason polls, or at least they should be. How can anybody not choose them as #1?

When news of Patrick Turner's commitment to Southern Cal spread Wednesday afternoon the Big Orange Nation was shocked, but not nearly as shocked as those closest to Turner, particularly his father, Steve Turner.

</TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle>Turner surprised everyone with his announcement of Southern California.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- End Image------------------>"Yea, I was surprised by it," the elder Turner said. "It threw me off that is for sure. We were having dinner with the Tennessee coaches when I got a message that he was telling people he was going to Southern Cal. I was totally shocked."

Like many, Steve felt his son was bound for Tennessee.

"I guess I mis-read him," Turner said. "The way he was talking I thought he was going to Tennessee. When he was set to announce last weekend at the all-star game, I thought it was going to be Tennessee."

So the obvious question is what happened? Steve Turner said Patrick indicated to him there were a couple of factors.

"I think there was a couple of things," Turner offered. "I think with Matt Leinhart staying that was a factor because they can get back to the National Championship game and be the first team to win three in a row in a long time and they throw it a lot. The last couple of years, they have thrown it more than Tennessee and like Tennessee they play young players. Plus, Patrick said there is not as many receivers at USC as there is at Tennessee."

And now the question is how finished is Patrick Turner's commitment.

"Obviously, he has not signed any papers," Steve Turner said. "In my mind anything it possible. How everything is handled now is up in the air. I just told Patrick to be sure this is what he wanted to do. I have felt like Tennessee was the number one pick. I had no clue he was doing this when he left for school and I am upset about it. He knows that and we have talked about it."

Turner said that Trojan head coach Pete Carroll is supposed to be in town next weekend.

Rivals.com ranks the 6-foot-5, 210 pound Turner as the top ranked wide receiver in America. Patrick Turner was unavailable for comment on Wednesday night.

Hes a smart guy. Having USC's QB staying another year will give him a lot of publicity as he will get many chances with the ball. GOOD LUCK >>
