Its only happened twice in The AFC in the last 29 years.

1976 Oakland Raiders and 1977 Denver Broncos were both #1 seeds and underdogs at home for the AFC Championship. Both teams won that game and advanced to The Super Bowl. Denver lost and Oakland won.

This bodes well for Steeler fans!!!!! :dancefool

Has there ever been a 15-1 (or as in this case 16-1) team an underdog at home in NFL History under any circumstances?

Wilsky,

I believe the unbeaten dolphins were a dog in the 72 superbowl vs Washington.:WTF:

Not sure why but I'm pretty sure they were.

Only other 15-1 teams were 84 49ers and 85 bears and they were never a dog in any of their playoff games.

The Dolphins may have been dogs in that SB but that was on a neutral field. The 85 Bears or 84 Niners were never dogs at home.
