anyone interested in joining a fantasy baseball league this year? the league will be set up on espn and will be a ten-team league with 5x5 scoring. cost is $150/team plus the $29.95 that espn charges each team to sign up. payouts are weighted for the top 3 spots at year-end.

i have 7 teams in...need 3 more. email me at edwardsblue@yahoo.com if you're interested.

Damn, 20% vig charged by ESPN?? That's steep. Sportsline commissioner service costs less than that.

the scoring is 5x5. there is pitching and offensive stats. we do not do the head-to-head so, there is a ranking of 1-10 based on your overall performance.

stats in the 5x5 scoring are

pitching:

era
whip
wins
saves
strikeouts

offensive:

average
homers
rbis
runs
stolen bases

i guess we could lower that vig to 2% but, then it would cost $1,500 team

I just thought $300 for the league was a high cost for providing the service. Sportsline is 1/2 that, and I believe Yahoo is free. Just curious what extra ESPN gives you that the others don't.

I edited my question on the scoring as soon as I wrote it as I realized you said 5x5.

you may be right about the cost but, this is a league of core guys who have been on espn since 1998. we are all comfortable with it and, for $30/guy, i'm not gonna shop it.

not that it matters but i have heard from other people that the yahoo website is not close to the espn site when it comes to fantasy baseball. i have never played anywhere else so, i cannot personally comment.

You should check out cbssportsline.com.

They have a great fantasy baseball commissioner site. I think its cheaper than ESPN. I have been using it for numerous years. The live pitch by pitch updates on your team scoreboard are great. I am glued to the site screen till like 2AM waiting for my West Coast players to finish playing. I doubt I will draft any West Coast players this year. I need some sleep.

Blue,
Do you allow partners to make up a team? It's tough for one guy to manage a roster (vacations, work travel, etc ..) all season.

i dont see why that wouldn't work. two people would just have to have the password to the team. doesn't sound like a problem.
