Here is a link to weekly tourneys in LV.

The Mirage is having their big tourney during the month of may and I also believe the Plaza is having a good sized tourney during May also.

I go out every May for a Pool tourney and usually play some WSOP events, but they moved that back this year, so it is nice that the Mirage is going to fill the gap.

Tourneys are very tough to win......I hate putting in all that time and coming away with nothing for the effort!!!!!!.....Play live!!!!! Lots of good games in town for all players of Big or Low linits...Great No-Limit games at the Palms....lotsa action...and the eye-candy is absolutely outstanding(if you like that kinda stuff)...LOL...."nuff said...ExPro...

Different strokes for different folks. I also like real money vs. tourney play, but I know many players who feel the opposite. Tourneys are good way to control your losses and also a way to hit it big. Many of the top pros that you see on TV do not play many real money games.

Top tournament pros are good at what they do, but most suck at live games because they aren't good poker players. They play tourney strategy very well. That is the beauty of live games these days. All these people get fired up watching no limit on TV and haven't a chance playing a live game. Not much action since TV shows are heavily edited so these players have no clue that most hands are supposed to be mostly raise and fold. They get bored and remember when some star turned a hand like 75 into a big winner and they play them. They don't realize in a live game playing top notch starters and playing them hard is the way to win. Hard to turn a dog hand into a winner often in a live game, so I say "come join us"!

On a side note best tourneys in general are at the Mirage for the higher limits (around $100 with some rebuys) and the Orleans for low end (mostly $20-40 buy ins). Other places have decent tourneys, but can suffer from poor turnout. The Plaza has some good structures and timing (midnight anyone?), but the place is such a dump they rarely get half the players involved that you see elsewhere. I hear GD runs a good tourney, I will have to stop by soon to play in one.
